Daniel Michael "Danny" DeVito, Jr. is an American actor, voice actor, comedian, director, producer, and screenwriter, who is best known for his television roles as Louie De Palma in the ABC/NBC sitcom Taxi (1978-1983) and Frank Reynolds in the FX/FXX sitcom It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, since 2006. He is also well-known for his film roles, such as Vernon Dahlart in the 1983 comedy-drama film Terms of Endearment, Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin in Tim Burton's 1992 superhero film Batman Returns, Harry Wormwood/the Narrator in the 1996 fantasy comedy film Matilda (which he also directed and produced), and Sid Hudgens in the 1997 neo-noir crime film L.A. Confidential. Additionally, he voiced the titular character of Universal/Illumination's 2012 adaptation of The Lorax, as well as Satan in the adult Fox animated sitcom Little Demon.
For Disney, he voiced Phil in the 1997 Disney animated film Hercules and portrayed Ernest Tilley in the 1987 Touchstone Pictures film Tin Men, Bill Rago in Renaissance Man, Sam Stone in Ruthless People, and Al Russo in When in Rome. He also played Ringmaster Max Medici (alongside his daughter, Lucy as a coat check receptionist) in the 2019 live-action remake of Dumbo. Additionally, he produced several Miramax films, such as Pulp Fiction and Garden State, and voiced Bob in The One and Only Ivan and Merv Stampington in Big City Greens. He recently played Czar Nicholas Romanov in the Hulu series History of the World, Part II and appeared as Bruce Davis in the 2023 Haunted Mansion film reboot.

- DeVito was Steven Spielberg's first choice to play Sallah in Raiders of the Lost Ark. He was interested to play the role, but his agent demanded more money than offered and DeVito himself was very busy filming his TV series The Associates, so John Rhys-Davies was cast instead.[1]
- DeVito was, at one point, considered to voice Iago in Aladdin, but was unavailable before the role was given to Gilbert Gottfried.[citation needed]
