Christopher Joseph "Chris" Columbus is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter and founder of the studio 1492 Productions. He is well known for directing and/or writing and producing films, such as Gremlins, Home Alone, Mrs. Doubtfire, Rent, I Love You Beth Cooper, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, and Pixels. He also served as a producer subsequently for the Harry Potter franchise and the Night at the Museum trilogy.
For Disney, he directed the 1987 comedy film Adventures in Babysitting, Heartbreak Hotel, and the 1999 Touchstone Pictures sci-fi drama film Bicentennial Man. He also produced the 2011 adaptation of The Help.
