Under the Hood is an autobiography authored by Hollis Mason. The book, told by Hollis Mason, details the time when Mason became the masked adventurer Nite Owl and the formation of the Minutemen.
History
Under the Hood begins with Mason's life and his decision into becoming a policeman in New York City, where he heard the report of the first masked adventurer, the Hooded Justice, whom inspired him into becoming the Nite Owl and joining along with other emerging heroes like himself, forming the short-live Minutemen. Mason described the fallout of the Minutemen, consisting of The Comedian's rape of Silk Spectre, and the deaths of Dollar Bill and The Silhouette. It then discusses the burden of the 1950s, Silk Spectre's birth of her daughter Laurie, the disappearance of the Hooded Justice, and the lack of costumed villains. The book then finally concludes with the emergence of new heroes such as Doctor Manhattan in the 1960s.

- The book later make a cameo appearance in Kingdom Come #1, being displayed in a shop window as Norman McCay walks by.
