Kathy and Kate[]
We currently consider Kathy Kane and Kate Kane as the same character, as shown by Creator sections and boilers, but I think their shared existence on New Earth means they're separate characters. My first argument is that the situation is similar to Wallace West. He was seemingly introduced as the new incarnation of the character until the original reappeared, making him either his own character or a pastiche. My second argument is that she's far enough removed that she's her own character. The Batman Who Laughs, Luthor, and Power Girl are all examples of adaptations, and in their cases alt. counterparts, of existing characters whose creators aren't the same as the originals.--MysteryScooby (talk) 3:28, September 14, 2020 (UTC)
- Creator credit is mostly decided by DC, but unless DC credits Kate the same as Kathy, I'm okay with this. They usually list that on adaptations, so maybe check Bad Blood whether it's got a creator credit?
- The problem with Wally is not exactly the same. Kate was introduced as a new version. --Tupka217 10:46, September 14, 2020 (UTC)
- If you say so, because I recall both Wallace and Bar Torr being considered the original versions until their divergent points. (To quote Wikipedia, "Originally introduced as a new interpretation of Wally West, as part of DC's The New 52 relaunch, the comic DC Rebirth #1 later established that he is, in fact, a new character of the same name...") I don't think there would've been as much backlash as there was if Wallace was introduced as a brand new character. In anycase, I bring up Bar because, as it turns out, I changed both characters' creators some time after the divergent points, with just no one contesting it. Looking into Batwoman; however, I'm more inclined to just revert my edits rather than change Batwoman. I would like to mention though that Lego DC Super-Villains lists both Kathy and Kate's first appearances, just like how both Superboys' list More Fun Comics #101 alongside their own personal first appearances.--MysteryScooby (talk) 10:03, September 14, 2020 (UTC)
