Super Friends (1976—1981)

Super Friends was an ongoing comic book series published from 1976 until 1981. The title adapted the adventures of the popular Hanna-Barbera animated series, The Super Friends and took place outside of the established Pre-Crisis reality. Although the comic title is considered non-canon, the series is notable for introducing the characters that make up the Global Guardians.

Notes

The comics originally took place on Earth-One, where they made references to other issues of normal continuity^[1] and admitting past adventures on Earth-One as also taking place in the Super Friends' past.^[2] Several main continuity comics also referred to Super Friends comics events as if they happened.^[3]^[4] The animated series was never part of Earth-One.^[5] Over time, this was being dissociated; and the universe where the group's adventures take place was named Earth 1956.
While Crisis on Infinite Earths: The Compendium formally put Super Powers Vol 1, Vol 2, Vol 3 and Super Powers Collection as all happening on Earth-Thirty-Two it does not include this comic or TV show as part of that list. However, out of continuity comics written E. Nelson Bridwell were considered part of "Earth-B", which based on The Official Crisis on Infinite Earth Crossover Index was Earth-Thirty-Two.
