Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun, easily recognizable by its rings.

History

Earth-Two

  • In the late 1930s, Ool, the despotic ruler of Saturn, abducted several Earth people, in order to plan an invasion of Earth. He encountered, attacked, and was defeated by John Zatara, who then convinced Ool to build irrigation systems on Saturn, which ended the crisis.[1]
  • In April 1942, Hawkman aided the Akania Kingdom of Saturn in overcoming the evil dictator Hora from the enemy Kingdom of Horra. The inhabitants of these kingdoms were human in appearance while their local animal life was made up of akaran riding cranes and giant predatory Awk-Birds.[2] It was later revealed that Hawkman had actually traveled to the Saturn of another dimension, not the native Saturn of the Earth-Two dimension.[3]
  • In Autumn 1944, Mephisto Saturno did extensive espionage on Earth, preparatory to a planned invasion, which was foiled by Wonder Woman.[4] After negotiating an interplanetary trade agreement, the Emperor of Saturn established an embassy in Washington, D.C., and appointed Count Dendum as the first Saturnic Ambassador to Earth.[5]
  • In the year 3000, another dictator, Fura will emerge, forcing the majority of Saturnians to live underground, while he wages war against other planets, using a vast army of robots. Eventually engaging Earth, he will be defeated by the Batman and Robin of that century, who will then go on to end the dictator's reign and liberate the Saturnians.[6]

Earth-S

  • In the very early 1940s, it came to Captain Marvel's attention that a population of Saturnian humans was enslaved by an invading alien population of Dragon-Men, on Saturn. He flew from Earth to Saturn in a confiscated rocketship, and put a swift, violent end to this tyranny.[7]
  • In the very early 1940s, Atom Blake encountered a human population on Saturn, and another on Praetoria. The Praetorians were plundering the Saturnians' supply of "Time Fluid," an extremely valuable, naturally occurring, Saturnian resource with amazing properties. The Praetorian Queen, Zirca, was over 12,000 years old, and she did not long outlive the loss of her supply of Time Fluid.[8]
  • In the late 1940s, all sentient life is scourged from Saturn by an invasion of Living Fireballs from Beyond Known Space intent on destroying all life in the solar system [9]
  • At some unknown time in the future, Captain Venture will rediscover a lost Earth-colony city on Saturn, and elope with its ruler, and only surviving citizen, Princess Zyra. At that time the indigenous Kasha people will fully reclaim their planet's surface.[10]

Earth-One

  • At one time, a technologically advanced civilization existed on Saturn. Superman found some remnants of it, explored them, and discovered a device, which he brought back to Earth. This device turned out to be a "mentality exchanger".[11]
