Synopsis for "Godhead Act I, Part I: Genesis"

Highfather and Metron have reviewed the history of the universe and it has lead them to the Source Wall looking for the one weapon that could defeat Darkseid: the Life Equation! They had heard that the Source Wall had been breached, and Metron had a device that communicates with Relic; who was trapped in the Source Wall by Kyle Rayner. The only sense that Relic makes is to tell Highfather to seek the seven rings "united together... as one."

Highfather returned to New Genesis and gathered the Council of Eight. He has seen the rise of the White Lantern and the final battle with Apokolips was coming. All he needed from the Council of Eight was—one of each ring! Seven were sent forth, while Hyalt had something to build for Highfather.

On Korugar, Arkillo was deprived of his Yellow Ring—and his fingers—by Bekka.

On Okaara, the archer Shadowfall took Larfleeze's Orange Ring. So fell a Star Sapphire's Violet Ring to Lightray, Munk's Indigo Ring to Uggha, and a Red Lantern Ring to Malhedron.

On Mogo, Hal Jordan laments the loss of Kyle and the depleting Emotional Energy reservoir and looked for a way forward. Saint Walker had given up hope. BOOM! Orion and Metron apport-in; Metron grabbing Saint Walker's Blue Ring, noting that he wasn't using it anyway. Orion grabbed Mogo's ring, just as Hal appeared and, in turn, grabbed Orion; but willpower did not hold Orion, who escaped with Mogo's ring. Mogo had begun to fade...

All rings were brought together in the Sceptre that Hyalt had built for Highfather, who took it to Planet Aydin to "shape the universe into a trap". The Sceptre failed to transform the population, instead inflicting monstrosity upon them. Malhedron saw that this was not the Life Equation, and asks for mercy for the population.

Highfather saw that the Life Equation was not as simple as combining the rings—dangerous though they may be. He charged the Council of Eight to go out and stop the use of all rings—except the White. They should bring the White Lantern to Highfather.
