- The Black Ace! Hmm! I've wanted to meet him!
- — Madame Doom src
Madame Doom was an international spy who crossed paths with Black X over a dozen times.
History
The true nationality and real name of Madame Doom are chronicled nowhere. Her present whereabouts and loyalties are completely unknown.
In the late 1930s and during much of World War II, this mysterious and elusive espionage agent worked on a free-lance basis. For part of that time, she was co-opted by the dictator powers, but ultimately she double-crossed them, too.
Her long and complex relationship with an international espionage rival, the famous secret agent Black Ace, is more a matter of rumor than of record, and few details are known.

Notes
- Madame Doom once got through an entire episode of Black X's adventures without speaking or writing a single word of dialogue. That's how mysterious she was.
- "Black X" was known as "Black Ace" for the first five issues of his run in Smash Comics Vol 1, but before and after that, in Feature Funnies, Feature Comics, and the remainder of Smash Comics Vol 1, he was called "Black X."
