Synopsis for "A Day In His Life..."

After Rich Davis' funeral, everybody's mood is on the floor. Carol and Hal go to her beach house, where she asks to be alone, in spite of Hal's insistence to comfort her. When she enters her apartment, she finds the Predator waiting for her in the dark. The sudden visitor startles her, and Hal, hearing her scream and the noise of a falling chair from downstairs, confronts the Predator. The black-suited visitor beats Hal to a pulp, and leaves the apartment after the tearful Carol pleads him to go, not without giving her an unwanted kiss.

At Ferris Aircraft, Bruce Gordon decides to renounce, fearing that Eclipso's control over him might bring more troubles for the company. John Stewart tries to continue his works on his blueprints, but even he is discouraged by recent events. So he recharges his ring and sets looking for a way to blow off steam as Green Lantern. John finds what he's looking for in the shape of a strayed space shuttle. Green Lantern's efforts to help the astronauts only makes matters worse, and they manage to get a hold of the ship in spite of his help.

Frustrated by his inability to help, John heads to Oa and asks the Guardians to tell him who was his predecessor so he could ask him for his guidance. The Guardians, however, respect the former lantern's privacy and refuse to give him that information. Instead, they put John Stewart under the tutelage of one of the most honoured members in the Corps: Katma Tui.

Notes

Trivia

  • John Stewart incorrectly recites his oath as "...in darkest' night," instead of "...in blackest night." This is possibly a mistake from the writers, but could also be interpreted as John Stewart's mistake due to his inexperience, although he recited his oath correctly in previous issues.
