Synopsis for "The Last Testament Of The Green Lantern Corps!"
Living in the 58th Century, Salakk discovered that there are no Green Lanterns in the future. He flies to Oa, where he finds the whole citadel in ruins and the Central Power Battery missing. After a desperate demand to know what happened, the sand of Oa, which absorbed the energy of the battery, answers him with a sign written with the green light in the sky, saying “THE GREEN LANTERNS KILLED SINESTRO IN 1988”. Being unable to find more information about the matter, Salakk decides to travel to the past before the execution.
Salakk arrives at 1988's Oa, but finds the Green Lantern Corps has already executed Sinestro before he could warn them. but he Green Lanterns don't believe Salakk's story. Appa Ali Apsa says he feels he knows what Salakk is talking about, but he is interrupted by a blast of light generated by the central battery. Hal Jordan asks the battery what is going on but is answered by another blast of energy. With the source of energy fluctuating, the criminals being held in their sciencells are free once again and attack the Green Lanterns. The power rings start to malfunction and explode, killing Driq in the process. The Green Lanterns lure the criminals to the museum since its walls were built to be impregnable and lock them there.
K'ryssma asks the telepaths to join her in a mental probe to unlock the secrets of the battery. It reveals that billions of years ago, after the women of Oa (now known as Zamarons) left the planet and joined the Korugarans pursuing their own goals, the Guardians made a vow to never punish any Zamaron or Korugaran with death since that would be considered as male vanity instead of justice. And in the case any of them or their agents broke that vow, they ordered the giant battery to backfire and explode.
Appa Ali Apsa explains the central battery is decaying, as the mental side of it slips away, leaving only the yellow impurity, forcing the green power to explode with increasing violence, and eventually destroying Oa.
