Gen 12 #2 is an issue of the series Gen 12 (Volume 1) with a cover date of March, 1998.
Synopsis for the 1st Story
Morgan meets FBI Agent Joe Brockmeyer, a friend of Grifter, in Chicago. He tells Morgan about Grifter's background: after leaving home as a teenager to escape his mob boss stepfather, Cash became the getaway driver for an armed robbery crew. During a heist, he stopped one robber from shooting Brockmeyer so the agent convinced him to join IO instead of go to prison. Miles Craven and John Lynch then recruited him for Team 7. Years later, Gabriel Newman helped Cash escape IO, and he became a mercenary in South America. When he turned on a client to prevent a massacre, he went to prison. Cash escaped and returned to the U.S. only to learn his mother had died. Deathblow recruited him to help Chang and Fairchild disappear with their children and keep them out of IO custody. He witnessed Black Razors led by Frank Colby murder Callahan and his wife, and Cray had to hold him back from taking revenge. In Washington, D.C., after a brief confrontation with Colby, Cash was attacked by Daemonites. Zealot saved him, and he disappeared with her soon thereafter. Morgan thinks Colby might have valuable information and leaves. After he departs, “Brockmeyer” removes his mask, revealing himself to have been Grifter in disguise.
