Synopsis for Ghost Patrol: "The 'Spectacular' Crimes"
The Ghost Patrol is hired to guard giant advertising balloons that seem to come to life and commit crimes. They are hired by an advertisement executive name Palley to accompany a balloon that is making its way through downtown. It is advertising the start of baseball season the following week. As it continues to move, the balloon suddenly springs to life and crashes a window in a building that belongs to a diamond wholesaler. A group of thieves then disembark from the balloon and begin to pillage the warehouse to steal valuable jewels. The main villain is masked and gives the orders to pack away as many of the jewels as they can possibly carry. As the theft is in progress, the Ghost Patrol appears and begins to disrupt their actions. The thieves jump back into the balloon to make their escape. They successfully use a fire extinguisher to subdue two members of the Ghost Patrol named Pedro and Slim. The thieves use parachutes to jump to safety and leave the pair of heroes to fend for themselves. The next evening two more balloons appear in the form of a giant bird and a rhinoceros. They appear peaceful at first but the rhinoceros balloon attacks the bird balloon. Inside the rhino balloon, Ghost Patrol member Fred has taken over the controls and has subdued the thieves operating the balloon. The main thief is taken into custody and unmasked. He turns out to be a man named Sparga who served as Mr. Palley’s assistant. He wanted to ruin Palley to take control of his agency and frame him for the crimes that his balloons were committing.
