Synopsis for "Planetfall"
It has been a year since planetfall. The plan was to leave the bad of the past behind and start fresh on the new world, but life is rarely so kind, and so, the city of New Gotham has a new Batman patrolling it. He has an interesting case before him tonight - Terry Sloan, the most wanted man in the world, is loose in New Gotham, and Batman is in hot pursuit, pausing only to save a young boy with a dog from a pair of muggers. Catching up to Sloan, Batman finds he has been caught by another - a masked man of villainous intent, who calls himself Johnny Sorrow.
12 months ago, Dick Grayson wasn't doing so hot. Dragged to the planet Telos by a convergence of weird energies, he helped the Wonders of the World save it from destruction, and watched the entity that ran the planet transformed it into a new home for them. But at the end of the crisis, the superheroes returned home, and Dick Grayson was left, on this replacement Earth, with a spinal injury and no will to go on.
Meanwhile, in orbit, the 12 ships of the exodusing TSS fleet were advancing on the planet Telos had granted them, which they are already calling "Earth 2". Across the fleet, hope was soaring - but in Overwatch-One, Terry Sloan activated a plan of his, and sent a signal that put the other 11 spaceships into descent. He insisted that the survivors would thank him... one day.
On the TSS Endurance, Power Girl, Huntress, Mister Terrific, Red Arrow and Accountable braced for impact... when Green Lantern, acting on behalf of the Multiversal Green that empowered him now, saved them from a fiery crash. When they tried to thank him, he insisted that he served all life now, and flew away. Though they did not understand, the heroes decide to carry on saving lives.
In a nearby meadow, the crippled Dick Grayson had watched the ship crashland and set trees on fire. He was convinced he was going to die - but Mister Terrific ran to his aid, saying that as long as they were here, they might as well try to make a better world.
Now, Batman survives a hail of gunfire from Johnny Sorrow's bullets thanks to gear from his "terrific" armorer. Sorrow says that Sloan is wanted by something scarier than Batman, before he is hit by a ricocheting bullet, and Batman runs after Terry Sloan. Cornered in an alleyway, Sloan is told that he must stand trial for bringing down the 11 ships and setting himself up as a dictator. Sloan insists that Overwatch-One has been subverted by someone who is working against him, and asks if Batman was sent by "him". As Batman pauses, trying to parse what this means, a metal wing harness folds out of the back of his jacket and he flies away. Batman attempts to give chase, but ends up falling into a building, left with more questions.
