Curtis Calhoun (New Earth)

Prometheus was a member of the supervillain team the Hybrid and an enemy of Blue Beetle.

History

Calhoun was a metallurgist for Kord Industries, an organization owned by Ted Kord. Kord respected his expertise, even calling him as the “best metal man in the business.” While overseeing a procedure involving the metal Promethium, Mento caused the liquid metal to be poured onto Calhoun, covering him in a metal laced with Promethium. En route to the hospital, Calhoun's ambulance was attacked by members of the supervillain team known as the Hybrid. Their leader, Mento, transformed the metal covering Calhoun into a permanent metallic shell. Assuming the "Prometheus" alias, the reluctant Calhoun fought alongside the Hybrid in an unsuccessful attempt to defeat the New Teen Titans. Although Mento eventually directed the Hybrid against the Titans once again, they rebelled and Mento was apparently cured of his insanity by Titan member Raven. Calhoun wasn't seen again, until the JSA learned that the Hybrid were all killed in the gladiatorial games staged by the villainess Roulette.^[1]

• Unique Physiology: He has a metal epidermis, which confers superior strength and durability. Calhoun is also capable of raising the temperature of his armored form to several hundred degrees Celsius.
