Charles "Derby" Dickles was Alan Scott's friend, accompanying him behind the steering wheel of his taxi cab called Goitrude.
History
He drove Alan in his car to Patton to visit Doris Henton, the mother of Alan's late lover Jimmy Henton.[1]
Aware of Alan's homosexuality, Charles didn't judge him for his attraction to men despite the attitudes of the era, and encouraged him to come out to his friends in the Justice Society.[2]

- Charles "Doiby (Derby)" Dickles was created by Bill Finger and Martin Nodell, first appearing in All-American Comics #27. However, in the Prime Earth continuity, Charles "Doiby (Derby)" Dickles first appeared as part of the New 52 DC Universe in Green Lantern 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular #1 by James Tynion IV and Gary Frank.
