Synopsis for Freddy Freshman: "Freshman Freddy and The Excuse"
Freshman Freddy has to do 100 reps more in the gym when he asks his pal Al how he gets out of gym work. Al offers he use his brain and just say he's sick so he can go to the doctor, but not to say he told him that. When he says he's not feeling well, he's sent up to the doctor, who orders Freddy to remove his shirt, while having asking him his heaviest and least heaviest weight. Freddy gets confused and offers at least, he weighed 7 lbs, 1 oz, but recently he gained 20 pounds from "moving." When asked further, he admits it's because his new landlady doesn't lock her refrigerator. He claims to have a cough and the doctor gives him a spoonful of something that taste bad enough that he spits it out. The doctor says he's not excusing him from gym for a cough. Freddy argues he has a "floating kidney" but the doctor says he'll give him an anchor tattoo to fix it. The doctor confirms his pulse is normal (after checking his hand on his watch and not on his wrist) and likens his ribs to blue Venetian blinds. Later, the coach demands Freddy give him another 200 reps according to "doctor's orders." Al drops by and Freddy tells him that he's more sorry for him, if he got an excuse from that doctor, he's not just sick, he's dead!

Synopsis for Captain Marvel: "Captain Marvel and The Man Who Never Saw Captain Marvel"
Florist John Crane is blind, but has learned to compensate for it by relying more on his hearing, such as hearing a telephone pole about to crack, allowing Billy Batson to transform and catch it before it can fall on anyone. Crane realizes because of his blindness he's the only person who didn't see Captain Marvel in action, and wonders if he's more like a brawny circus strongman, or a bird-man because Marvel can fly at super-sonic speeds. That night, some bank robbers knock Crane aside as they flee with their ill-gotten gains, not worried about him identifying them because they know about his blindness. The next morning, Billy finds Crane's closed his shop and is instead standing on a busy street corner, listening for a car that makes the distinctive collection of sounds the bank robbers' car did, along with occupants' voices that match theirs. This actually does happen, and the robbers, seeing Crane identifying them to someone, try to shoot him as they drive by. Billy transforms and captures them, again leaving Crane despairing that he missed the great hero in action. However, Marvel flies him to a hospital where Crane undergoes an operation to cure his condition, paid for by the reward money for capturing the two thieves. When Marvel comes by to check on Crane later, he brings along a mugger he apprehended on the way over, so Crane can finally see what it's like when Captain Marvel punches out a criminal!

Synopsis for Captain Kid: "Two Tickets to Nowhere!"
Captain Kid and another boy, Byron, are both vying to take Betty Mae to see Frankie Roads, the Great Baritone at the movie theater. Betty Mae says whoever shows up first with the tickets at her house (which go on sale in the morning,) will get to take her out. That night, Captain Kid commits to just not sleeping that night, knowing the tickets will sell out easily in 10 minutes. He decides to instead wait until dawn breaks and walk to the theater himself. He stands around until dawn.
In his tiredness, he forgets that the milk is on the doorstep and kicks over four bottles and that it's also raining heavily. He makes it to the theater, but falls asleep waiting for the box office to open and, when he's awake again, is thrown to the back of the line, behind Byron. Byron notes that he's Captain of the Track Team and Captain Kid won't be able to beat him there by running faster. However, Byron finds all the $1 tickets are sold out and he'd need two $3 tickets, but only has $2 total. Captain Kid gets the tickets and takes them to Betty Mae, winning his date with her. However, that night, his parents discover he has a cold from sitting on a box asleep in the rain and they order him to go to bed because he's sneezing constantly. He does so and Betty Mae makes sure he knows she's going anyways... and taking Byron with her. A doctor comes over and finds that Captain Kid's cold may now include a fever... he's burning up in rage!

Synopsis for Captain Marvel: "Captain Mavel and The Dizzy Dervish Day"
Mr. Morris is out with Billy Batson on vacation in Turkestan, a small region in Central Asia, wearing sharp suits a fez each. Their guide Ali shows them around the old parts of their fine Central Asian old city, but also that they have some modern amenities like a hot dog stand. Ali shows them the decrepit palace of the Sultan Abba Dabba Babba, who no longer rules the country and lives alone. The addled Sultan stands up and announces it is “Dervish Day” banging a gong, lighting a brazier of coals and Ali says that he dreams of long ago when the dervishes would spin for him once a year. However, when the Sultan starts to play the Dervish Ditty, a magical song, Mr. Morris, Billy and Ali cannot help but start spinning around. Billy manages to call SHAZAM to summon Captain Marvel, who punches through a wall to get to Mr. Morris while he whirls himself into a fountain and then manages to tie him and Ali to a pillar so they won’t continue to spin. The Sultan begins playing on the roof to all of Turkestan, making everyone spin for him as if it were Dervish Day again. Captain Marvel notes that everyone will just fall over from exhaustion at some point, which won’t be very entertaining and the Sultan offers that if the World’s Mightiest Mortal spins for 24 hours straight. However, when pressed to play the “Stop Everyone Dancing” song, the Sultan is alack to find that the page is missing and he is not easily recalling it. He catches a woman falling out of a palanquin, who thinks that he’s being daring, but politely declines to dance with her. Due to the whirling of the people, he gets a bowl of soup thrown in his face and has to save a rug vendor from whirling himself into so many rugs he smothers himself. The Sultan remembers that the song has to be played backwards and at high speed, while dancing, so he insists that Captain Marvel do it. Captain Marvel does so on the condition that he tells no one of this further. Even the Stamina of Atlas finds him dizzied moving at top speeds in the World’s Greatest Whirling Dervish and then destroys the Magic Flute. After freeing Mr. Morris and Ali, the Sultan reminds Captain Marvel that he still agreed to 24 hours of whirling and enjoys watching him whirl late into the night.

Notes
- This issue attempts to tackle a realistic look at how a flood would be managed in a generally suburban to rural area, especially one with a dedicated flood relief program, though it does give him plenty of work to do in helping out.
- This issue marks the final appearance of Freshman Freddy in Fawcett Comics, returning as a backup feature in Frank Merriwell at Yale (which lasted four issues,) My Little Margie's Boy Friends (which would last three issues with him,) and the last issue of Brenda Starr, Reporter.
- Ironically, My Little Margie's Boy Friends would be replaced by a different comic named "Freddy," but he is unrelated to Freshman Freddy.
- Further, next issue introduces a somewhat similarly bookish young man who is friends with Billy Batson, Dexter Knox
- Ironically, My Little Margie's Boy Friends would be replaced by a different comic named "Freddy," but he is unrelated to Freshman Freddy.
