Synopsis for "Challenge From The Stars, Part One"
Early in his career as a reporter and as Superman; Clark Kent, Lois and Jimmy go to interview Jefferson Pierce about a community centre in a working-class black neighbourhood which an evil property developer is trying to close down. Suddenly, aliens known as the Gorathians beam down and begin attacking civilians. Clark slips away and flies back in as Superman to confront them. A smaller alien, Xalt of the S'tahl, tells him that they are from an interstellar alliance of largely peaceful civilisations who banded together for mutual defence; the warlike Gorathians managed to join and since then have been bullying the other members by challenging them to gladiatorial contests termed "the Games", where the winning race wins the loser's planet and resources. This has allowed them to become the undisputed masters of the alliance.
Xalt begs Superman to be their champion and free them from the Gorathians and he agrees, even when the Gorathian leader Grunhar threatens to destroy the Earth if he loses. Grunhar tells Superman he may call on two others to aid him in the fight, Superman plans to call in Batman and Wonder Woman, but when he makes a move towards Lois and Jimmy, Grunhar declares them his "seconds". Grunhar teleports them to the arena, a nuclear-powered Navy aircraft carrier suspended in mid-air over Metropolis. Superman defeats the Gorathians' champion, a monster known as "Gallalox the Handsome", but Grunhar then deactivates the field holding the carrier up and it hurtles out of the sky towards Metropolis.

Synopsis for "Lois & Clark: In Love. At Work."
Lois Lane has been named permanent Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Planet since Perry White resigned to run for Mayor. She is struggling with impostor syndrome and worries that people do not respect her. Clark advises her not to try to be Perry, but to be herself while still being Editor. An intern named Mariposa comes into Lois' office and tells her that Atomic Skull, who seemed to have been rehabilitated, is attacking Steelworks.
Clark changes into Superman and flies to Steelworks. He asks Atomic Skull to surrender, saying this isn't who he is anymore, but Atomic Skull tells Superman he never knew the real him and attacks. Regretfully Superman defeats him and hands him over to the police. He returns to the Planet and tells Lois he'll have the story ready in twenty minutes, but Lois has already had Mariposa write it. In her office, she tells Clark that he can't write the story as he was the one as Superman who vouched for Atomic Skull and worked to redeem him, so he can't be objective. She says he can no longer write about Superman as it is a conflict of interest.

- The first story takes place early in Superman's career, which according to the current timeline would place it somewhere in the early 2010's. However, people are shown wearing 1970s fashions; additionally Clark, Lois and Jimmy are also shown to work for WGBS rather than the Daily Planet, as they did in comics published during the Bronze Age.
- The second story takes place some time after the events of Power Girl (Volume 3) #2.
Trivia
- In the first story, Morgan Edge resembles his Pre-Crisis counterpart, when the Prime Earth incarnation of Morgan Edge was previously depicted as African-American. It appears that he has been returned to his original appearance by a Multiversal reboot.
