The Dragonslayer Greatshield is a soul-transposed greatshield in Dark Souls III.
In-Game Description
- Melted iron shield that once formed part of the Dragonslayer Armour.
- The shield offers high protection to lightning, which the Dragonslayer commanded as his own, and its Skill has faint echoes of the Dragonslayer's own fighting style.
- Skill: Shield Bash
Without lowering your guard, strike the enemy with the shield to knock them back or stagger them. Works while equipped in either hand.

Characteristics[]
The Dragonslayer Greatshield is a sturdy and reliable greatshield with very high stability and strong all-around elemental defenses, being exceptionally good at warding off Lightning damage. However, it is also the second-heaviest greatshield in the game, beaten only by Havel's Greatshield, and has a high Strength requirement, so players who wish to wield this greatshield will have to invest heavily in both Strength and Vitality.
At the stage of the game that it's available, this shield can be particularly useful against foes that deal lightning damage, such as the Nameless King; in particular, its high elemental defenses also allow it to reliably block the fire breath attacks of the King of the Storm in the first phase. As well, it can be a lifesaver against its own former wielder, the Iron Dragonslayer.
Its skill is also very noteworthy in that it is not the same as the standard Shield Bash that its ilk possess. Rather, it is capable of outright knocking down its target, rather than simply staggering them. This can be useful in many situations, and can create windows of opportunity that other Shield Bashes cannot.
