- For the Dark Souls II variant, see Pursuer's Greatshield.
The Curse Ward Greatshield is a greatshield in Dark Souls III.
In-Game Description
- Greatshield given to those who resisted the curse long ago.
- Far too heavy for an ordinary person, perhaps it signifies the foolishness of resisting the curse.
- And yet, those who bear the weight of this shield will not find its protections against curses wanting.
- Skill: Weapon Skill
Equipped this shield in the left hand allows one to perform the Skill of the right hand weapon.
Availability[]
Found in the Cathedral of the Deep, on a corpse lying in the mausoleum located in front of the pair of large doors at the end of the graveyard on the upper level, and above the shortcut ladder that leads down to the stream with the Corpse Grubs.
Characteristics[]
The Curse Ward Greatshield is a fairly standard greatshield that boasts respectable all-around elemental resistance. It is also the first available greatshield with 100% physical damage block that does not drop randomly from enemies, meaning that it can be obtained without farming.
True to its name, the Curse Ward Greatshield is adept at deflecting Dark damage, and is equally resistant against Magic damage as well. However, its weight to stability ratio is inferior to other greatshields that also provide complete defense against physical damage, and in particular its stability does not improve appreciably when upgraded. This makes the Curse Ward Greatshield a good all-around shield for defending against physical and elemental damage, though inferior when put against more specialized greatshields that have higher individual resistances or increased stability-to-weight ratios.
The best property of this shield is that it is one of the few greatshields to allow use of the main hand weapon's skill. It is also one of only two greatshields to have such a trait and also block 100% of physical damage, the other being the Wolf Knight's Greatshield.

Trivia[]
- The fact that this shield upgrades with Titanite Scales is a reference to the fact that the Pursuer's Greatshield in Dark Souls II is acquired from a boss soul.
