Canceling edits without a description is the abolition of vandalism. Do you think my renaming requests are vandalism? — Ирука13 12:53, 18 March 2020 (UTC)
- Ganz klar, deine Umbenennungsanträge sind Vandalismus. --Ralf Roletschek 12:59, 18 March 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, I do. Disruptive vandalism by completely meaningless renaming approaches. My file naming is /allways/ meaningful, further information can be found in the file description, whzich is machine readable, and additional information can occasionally be found in the files categories. It is absolutly unnessesary and disruptive, to copy parts of the description to the file name and at the same time to destroy information in the file name, wthat does not belong to the file description, but are essential for the photographer. Strommasten
Hallo Smial.

Thumbs Up
I applaud your remarks in QI.
It is a very frustrating place. My current picture in Consensual Review is a classic example. It went into Consensual Review because a reviewer said it was unsharp and the building walls were not vertical. None of the current reviewers now thinks it's unsharp and, against my better judgment, I made the walls vertical (this makes the top of tall buildings balloon out). The first reviewer has not relented. Now someone has chimed it to say the walls are not absolutely, perfectly vertical. It was so close he had to provide a technique for people to be able to see this tiny amount. This is the classical nit picking that goes on. I don't think I've had a single image that went into Consensual Review come out alive. Several were given thumbs down saying "over processed." That term has no meaning others can understand and one of these had no processing other than straightening and cropping. When using this ambiguous term people should explain specifically the problem they see. Something like, 'the lighthouse is over-saturated' -- Jim Evans (talk) 15:25, 4 September 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for your kind words. I myself have already presented and propagated techniques for perspective equalization (ShiftN) and denoising of photos (NeatImage) at photo workshops in 2007/2008. But the participants at that time will certainly confirm (I hope so, at least...) that I have always combined this with warnings that all these techniques have technical and especially aesthetic limits. I am quite of the opinion that verticals in architectural photos should also be shown vertically, but please only as long as the results do not look absurd and unnatural. However, many of the people involved on QIC seem to completely lack a "photographic" view. So some dogmas based on pixel counting have become established there. Make sure that your frustration does not get out of hand, argue patiently and always objectively. It is possible to achieve change: Some time ago, photos with high ISO settings were generally rejected with the argument "too much noise", even when sports photos or concert photos could not be created any other way. In the meantime the same "mistake" is mostly accepted, but for this change many discussions had to be held... --Smial (talk) 17:07, 4 September 2020 (UTC) Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
Zoom prinzip.gif was nominated for MOTD
Your contribution to this project has been noticed. A file Zoom prinzip.gif, which was uploaded by you, has been nominated to be displayed on the Main Page of this project as a Media of the Day. You can view this and other nominations at Commons talk:Media of the day. It is always a good idea to let other contributors know when you think your file would look good as a featured media file, provide descriptions in different languages, and perhaps spread the joy by nominating media of other uploaders, that you believe deserve that. ℺ Gone Postal (〠 ✉ • ✍ ⏿) 06:46, 16 September 2020 (UTC)
