User talk:Sekicho
Hello - thank you for providing images to the wikimedia commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the commons should be useful to all users of wikimedia projects - this is possible only if the images can be found by other people. To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should either place the images on topic pages (galleries), or put the images directly into a category, or do both. Which of those possibilities is preferred is however a matter of debate, see here.
The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There is a large number of completely unsorted images on the commons right now, see Commons:Really unused. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do! Thank you. -- Duesentrieb 11:44, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- You may have forgotten to categorize your latest images, please check them and add them to a proper category! --Denniss 12:23, 26 February 2006 (UTC)
Attribution
[edit]Hi Sekicho. There's a problem with the photos you've been copying from Flickr. The Creative Commons Attribution license requires that you attribute the photographer: you have to include their name. Otherwise it's a copyright violation. Fortunately, it's pretty easy to fix this problem. On the Flickr page, the photographer's name is in the upper right corner, where it says "Uploaded on DATE by NAME". Please go through your uploads and add the photographer's name to each. Thanks! User:dbenbenn 00:01, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Sekicho. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Sekicho~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
