- If you really have to add these idw-templates here, feel free to do so. If not, just delete images I upload believing their license status is acceptable. You don't have to ask for my permission or acceptance.

[edit]Very glad to see you expressing your views on this image. Since the vanity publication by the exhibitionistic 'author' I have been attempting to have the offensive image removed. It's complained about daily, yet there are two avid defenders who astro-turf the votes about it on Talk:Anus. It's blown up to the point where there's a whole policy in the works about it yet we still can't seem to get rid of the bloody thing. :( 211.30.71.59 09:06, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry for this late answer. However, I'm not an active user on Commons, so I can just hope Commons will mature without my help.

Hi
[edit]I really like your images. Can you tell me what program you used to create them? I'm user Exteray on Wikipedia.
- Hi, and thanks!
- Which images are you talking about? I've been using AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator and GIMP for a few years.

Image deletion warning | Image:Wikignome.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

Image Tagging Image:Wikignome.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Wikignome.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Copyright violation
[edit]I am quite displeased by your copyright violation of my image en:Image:GranadaAlhambraLions2.jpg. I licenced it under GFDL, so it could have been reusued easily with proper licencing and attribution, but for some reason you refused to abide by that. Very annoyed, -- Infrogmation 19:55, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry if I did anything wrong, but I'm afraid I don't get it. Where did I use that image and how did I violate your copyright?
- / Mats Halldin 12:23, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- You transwikied the image without attribution. Attribution was required with the GFDL licensing. Sorry I brought this up harshly -- I was annoyed, but I will assume it was an honest mistake on your part. When transfering images from en:Wikipedia to Commons, please be sure to transfer the text noting the attribution. Note that when images are copied to Commons, the original on en:Wikipedia is often deleted there as redundant, so a back link to en:Wikipedia won't display any information. Please double check if you think you may have transwikied other images without attribution to the original copyright holder. I am a sysop on en:Wikipedia, so if you need me to check if I can find information off a deleted origninal there, ask me. Or let me know if I can help in some other way. Thanks, -- Infrogmation 12:59, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- If I didn't attribute you properly, it was a mistake. However, I still don't get it. That image is obviously still there on the English Wikipedia, and, as far as I can see, I never did edit that page and the image is still just a "candidate to be copied to the Wikimedia Commons." I can't find it here on Commons. Where on Earth did you find the information that made you annoyed?
- / Mats Halldin 18:59, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- It was at the same name here on Commons, uploaded by you 12:57, 29 March 2005. I noticed it recently as I have the version I uploaded on en:Wikipedia on my watch list, and a bot tagged it for deletion as a duplicate of image on Commons. I look at the image, noticed the lack of attribution, checked the history and saw that the image had been on Commons for over 2 years, never with attribution to the photographer! As this was a version of one of the handful of photos I've ever been offered money for reproduction of I found it particularly annoying. I speedy deleted the version on Commons as a copyright violation, as it was. I have since reuploaded with attribution: Image:GranadaAlhambraLions2.jpg. OK, this one is fixed now, but I am still bothered by the fact that this was a license violation and stayed on Commons for more than 2 and a half years. Perhaps you could double check any other images you moved here from other Wikis around that time to see if there are other problems? If I can be of assistance in fixing things let me know. -- Infrogmation 15:46, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
- OK, I get it now. Sorry again for any inconvenience. As you can see from any of my galleries, I've spent a lot of time making sure no information is lost when I move images from one wiki to another. So, I'm fairly certain this one was an isolated mistake from my part. I'm terribly sorry about it.

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 19:51, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

Please help replace this outdated license
[edit]Hello!
Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license {{PD}}. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.
The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding {{PD-self}} if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.
Thank you for your help. If you need help feel free to ask at Commons talk:Licensing or contact User:Zscout370.
The images we would like you to check are:

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Mats Halldin. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Mats Halldin~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell

Copyright status: File:Cebit05mathias und southpark WQ3.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Cebit05mathias und southpark WQ3.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Tarsus has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |

File tagging File:Cowley-Vädersolstavlan-HaloSim-stockholm38.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Cowley-Vädersolstavlan-HaloSim-stockholm38.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Cowley-Vädersolstavlan-HaloSim-stockholm38.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |
