Rather weird edits
[edit][1]. I have no idea of the rules for this bot, but the removal of the "Altar frontal from La Seu d'Urgell or of the Apostles" seems weird, as does the combination of moving in some cases from a Wikidata item to a Commons category, and in other case in the opposite direction. Can you explain? - Jmabel ! talk 16:56, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
Adds tables of links instead of items
[edit]Also @Spinster: who so far didn't respond at the Wikiflix talk page.
Why does it add a table of links to Wikidata items instead of the normal tiles at WikidataGalleries/WikiFlix/Films from Germany and WikidataGalleries/WikiFlix/Films from Italy and doesn't update WikiDataGalleries/WikiFlix/Fantasy films when prompted?
I split the page into before and after 2000 because the page can't be sorted, nobody replied at the talk page post and this way one can at least see fairly recent films at the top. It would be better if one could otherwise filter and sort the files more dynamically. Prototyperspective (talk) 17:23, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
- Missing column parameter. See here please. --Magnus Manske (talk) 07:38, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
- Ups, don't know how that happened. Thank you! I have several problems at the new page WikidataGalleries/MusicGenres/Main (template is here), maybe you already know the solutions to some or some are bugs or feature requests:
- There seems to be a bug with reading decades (in the Inception property (d:Property:P571) and the date popularized property) – it for example reads 090s (at music of Ireland) when it should be 900s or 190s (at boogie-woogie) when it should be 1900s or 200s (at synthwave) when it should be 2010s. This may also be a reason why the sorting currently doesn't really work which is also a problem for the WikiFlix galleries. Also "mantra" has -2000 set but is sorted as if it was the most recent.
- How can one inverse the sorting so it shows the items with the most recent years first (also for WikiFlix)? Template:Wikidata list only explains how to specify the property to sort by but not how to change its order. Items with that property unspecified should come last here.
- I'd like to have the label always link to the Wikidata item but currently it links to the Commons category if that is specified in "Multilingual links" of the WD item (note: not when only set in the Commons category prop) but Template:Wikidata list only explains how to "render links not in the local Wikipedia" and not how the label can be made to always link to the Wikidata item.
- Unimportant: I'd like to link to Wikipedia article set on the item (in the language of the Commons user with ENWP as fallback if the article doesn't exist in that WP or simply ENWP for now) – can this be done / link to their WMC cats?
- Unimportant: I'd like to link the subgenre of-genres to their commons category pages (instead of either the Wikidata item or a WMC gallery) – how could one retrieve the commons category value of the property?
- Unimportant: I'd like to separate the subgenre of-genres with commas instead of with newlines, is there a way to do so?
- Important: I'm using the Commons category property (d:Property:P373) for a link to the Commons category but it prepends it with Commons: causing it to be a redlink – how to add links to the Commons category there / prevent it from adding "Commons:" to the wikilink?
- Thanks for this great tool! Prototyperspective (talk) 16:41, 1 October 2024 (UTC)

Update: I fiddled with the date rendering, maybe not quite correct yet though. The sorting option was somehow left out of the description, I added it here (tl;dr: sort_order=DESC). I'll look into the rest soon-ish. --Magnus Manske (talk) 10:43, 2 October 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you!
It shows the the files with undefined inception year first with this sorting so I tried to implement a workaround by splitting the list so I could put those with undefined year to the bottom but neither(fixed this using the query builder) Also it changed the negative negative years of 'mantra' to a positive year value (see diff). Prototyperspective (talk) 16:02, 2 October 2024 (UTC)FILTER(!bound(wdt:P571))
norMINUS {?item p:P571 "".}
worked and I couldn't find applicable info on how to simply filter out items that have a particular property not specified but it's probably sth simple.- Another small bug: it adds a decade to the decade specified in popularized in so if 2010s is set, it adds 2020s. One of the other less important things I'd like to change at some point is that it should also display multiple audio files if multiple are set on the Wikidata item. Prototyperspective (talk) 12:17, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- Fixed the dates. --Magnus Manske (talk) 12:47, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks! I updated the list of issues and put them at the end of the gallery page. The mantra item has its negative year turned to a positive one and I implemented some workaround to show links to the Wikipedia articles as well as to replace commas (don't know if it causes any issues because of all the required template invocations and the workaround to show Commons category links only works because I created new redirects). I'd like create issues in the GitHub repo for the remaining issues at some point. Having the label always link to the Wikidata item for example or the subgenre of category links seem to require some code changes. Prototyperspective (talk) 20:59, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
Bot is not working well for some Spanish gallery pages
[edit]Magnus Manske: It looks like the bot is not working well since November 2020 for at least Iglesias en la provincia de Guadalajara and a lot of other Spanish gallery pages, see the first part of 1. Can this be fixed? JopkeB (talk) 07:01, 12 October 2024 (UTC)
