File:Jimi Hendrix Statue Capitol Hill Seattle.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Re: Wikitravel
[edit]Aha! Finally I can reach you without the prying eyes and censorship of Internet Brands (I haven't been able to reach you by email). Please, urgently, take a look at the Migration FAQ at Wikivoyage [1]. All the hard work you are doing on Wikitravel right now may be lost, as our mirror failed when IB disabled the API functionality. It will be possible to retrieve articles on a request basis, though, so if you compile a list of articles you have edited and want updated, please contact Ryan (whose contact info is available on that FAQ). Please also ask me any questions (also best to do over there, or by email, if you want to create a dummy gmail account and send me a note via special:emailuser/peterfitzgerald. --Peter Talk 17:27, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
File tagging File:Oarfolk.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Oarfolk.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Oarfolk.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Autopatrol given
[edit]Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. INeverCry 02:44, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
Wilcox, Crittenden Mill
[edit]Are you sure of these two edits: http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Category:Wilcox,_Crittenden_Mill&curid=19328961&diff=87197519&oldid=71729474, http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Middletown,_CT_-_Wilcox,_Crittenden_Mill_01.jpg&curid=19329127&diff=87197552&oldid=70664068 ? The Mill consisted of four major buildings. Two of those have been converted to apartments (one a condo, the other low-income). I placed Category:Apartment buildings in the United States only on photos of buildings that are now apartment buildings, rather than on the mill as a whole. - Jmabel ! talk 16:16, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

- @Jmabel, revert it if you like. FYI, the corresponding Wikipedia page doesn't make it obvious that only part of the site was converted to housing (see en:Wilcox, Crittenden Mill#Current use and condition, and that section was the same back in January 2013: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wilcox,_Crittenden_Mill&oldid=523092694). - I've clarified in the article. And we don't appear to have any pictures of Building D. We're really short of photographs of Middletown. I think the majority of what we've got is what I did in just a few days of photographing there. - Jmabel ! talk 03:40, 7 August 2019 (UTC)
Time & Place categories
[edit]Hi. I'd like to suggest you be selective about adding time and place categories to images (eg, "2009 in New Orleans", etc.) I think such categories work best when they display selected images that have a sense of the time and place, rather than all images that happen to have been taken that place and that year. For example, photos of architectural details of buildings which might have been documented looking pretty much the same years before or after might not be good candidates for such categories. Thanks for your work and attention. Cheers, -- Infrogmation (talk) 12:39, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

Sykes Tower
[edit]Hi there,
I just want to say that I live in Tampa and us common folk here fondly know that building as the "Sykes" tower or "Tootsie Roll Tower". I really don't care what cats are used for Tampa. I can never find anything familiar to me in the current cats; I guess the cats are for none residents. The building has changed names. I have never heard of the current name (which probably comes from Tampa's attempt to promote its River Walk area) but perhaps it could be acknowledged in the name in parenthesis or something that "Sykes" (a familiar name in Tampa) still occupies it and it was called the "Sykes" building for much if not most of its history; residents of Tampa still refer to it today as that. (Notice that in images, the name "Sykes" appear at the top.

- The categories would need to be moved to Category:Interstate 95 in Baltimore and Category:Interstate 95 in Philadelphia, respectively. For many major cities, the template in question is set up to recognize "cityname" in the category name as opposed to "cityname, statename". Eco84 (talk) 22:49, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
