19th century painting by C. D. Bell depicting an attack by Zulu warriors on a small Voortrekker laager. Inclusion of bluish cliff faces in the background suggests the Blaauwkrantz attacks of February 1838 which were ordered by Zulu king Dingane.

Date It's not clear from the caption (in the stated source) whether it is only the event depicted that occured in 1838, or if this is the creation date of the painting as well. If not, some date between 1838 and 1882 can be assumed (the later being the year the author died).
