La inmunocitoquímica de cardiomiocitos disociados enzimáticamente para GFP (un marcador específico para cardiomiocitos endógenos residentes),
para αSA actinina sarcomérica α‐ proteína de unión a la actina (un marcador específico para cardiomiocitos endógenos), y para BrdU (A), Ki67 (B), H3P (C)
revela que el corazón adulto joven contiene un pequeño pool de cardiomiocitos residentes cíclicos, que se incrementa luego de infarto miocárdico y están sobreregulados por la terapia de CDC.
Flechas en C muestran un ejemplo de cariocinesis.
