Shortcuts: COM:AN/B • COM:AN/P • COM:RFPP

This is a place where users can communicate with administrators, or administrators with one another. You can report vandalism, problematic users, or anything else that needs an administrator's intervention. Do not report child pornography or other potentially illegal content here; e-mail legal-reports@wikimedia.org instead. If reporting threatened harm to self or others also email emergency@wikimedia.org.

Report users for clear cases of vandalism. Block requests for any other reason should be reported to the blocks and protections noticeboard.


Report disputes with users that require administrator assistance. Further steps are listed at resolve disputes.


Reports that do not suit the vandalism noticeboard may be reported here. Requests for page protection/unprotection could also be requested here.


Other reports that require administrator assistance which do not fit in any of the previous three noticeboards may be reported here. Requests for history merging or splitting should be filed at COM:HMS.

Could some fellows check with File:黃芷晴.jpg - a vandal has been coming around to disrupt (and push some nonsense back & forth). ✓ Done: blocked for a week. @Modern primat: in warning the user, you referred to this as "vandalism," which it really isn't. "Vandalism" would mean a deliberate attempt to do harm, or at least a reckless disregard for harm. Uploading a bunch of pictures of yourself, even after warnings, is a problem, and I've blocked the user accordingly, but it's not really malicious. - Jmabel ! talk 19:29, 28 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fine, but in this case that message is only barely on point. I think " reason: repeatedly uploading out-of-scope personal images. Commons is not social media" in my blocking message was more to the point, though I should have linked COM:SCOPE on the word "scope". Jmabel ! talk 06:58, 29 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oatsandcream block evasion

User:MarxesandComedy uploaded File:The Cocoanuts (1929) Marx Brothers.webm on the 15th, and was globally blocked on the 23rd along with a dozen other accounts as a sock of LTA user Oatsandcream (an account which doesn't exist on Commons but which was chosen for categorising at Category:Sockpuppets of Oatsandcream).

I put the film up for deletion for being a copyright violation (it's not public domain until 1st January, it also contains a modern Universal ident), and for having been uploaded by an LTA user with a history of hoaxing Marx Brothers content.

User:FreidrichHandlebar registered with Commons on the 24th to immediately suggest keeping the file because it's nearly January, and said that they can personally vouch for it not having any hoax content in it. Today they removed the deletion request before the discussion had been closed, falsely claiming that a verdict had been reached. They've made no other edits.

This user was already warned on Dec. 26 about repeatedly requesting deletion of their contributions for no valid reason, but they've done so again: See here. Unfortunately, it seems necessary to start blocking them.
