English: Quote from http://rspl.royalsocietypublishing.org: In 1832, the Royal Society published two volumes of abstracts of the articles which had appeared in the Philosophical Transactions between 1800 and 1830. This practice continued at varying intervals until 1854, when the title became Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. By this time, the type of material had evolved to include full papers published in their own right read before the Society and various other items such as short communications, obituary notices and other Society business.
In 1905, as was the case with Philosophical Transactions two decades earlier, the journal was split into two separate publications: Proceedings of the Royal Society A, covering mathematics and the physical sciences, and Proceedings of the Royal Society B, covering the life sciences.
