English: Photographs from a trip to Norway with the yacht «Nereid» in 1869. On board the ship were the owner; the bankier and quaker Edward Backhouse (1808-1879), his wife Catherine (Katherine) Backhouse (1831-1896), his nephews James Edward Backhouse (1845-1897) and Edward Backhouse Mounsey (1840-1911) and his niece Anna Priscilla Mounsey (1847-1889). On the trip they visited Ålesund, Molde, Stavanger, Veblungsnes and Romsdal. The album was bought by Nasjonalbiblioteket - National Library of Norway - in 2010.

Norsk bokmål: Sommeren 1869 seilte yachten «Nereid» til Norge som en av de første, utenlandske turistbåtene som besøkte landet. Ombord var bl.a. båtens eier; bankmannen og kvekeren Edward Backhouse (1808-1879). For å komme seg etter stress og dårlig helse ville han besøke det rolige og restituerende Norge. Sammen med seg på turen hadde han bl.a. kona, Catherine (Katherine) Backhouse (1831-1896), nevøene James Edward Backhouse (1845-1897) og Edward Backhouse Mounsey (1840-1911) og niesa Anna Priscilla Mounsey (1847-1889). På turen besøkte de bl.a. Ålesund, Molde, Stavanger, Veblungsnes og Romsdal. I Stavanger tilbrakte de tid hos kvekeren Endre Dahl (1816-1885) og hans familie. I 2010 kjøpte Billedsamlingen ved Nasjonalbiblioteket et album fra Backhouses cruise til Norge i 1869. Sammen med albumet kjøpte de også en eske med 27 monterte fotografier fra en tur Backhouse tok til Norge i 1866. Fotografen på begge turene var nevøen Edward Backhouse Mounsey (1845-1897). Det ene fotografiet i boksen er signert både Edward Backhouse Mounsey og W. D. Howard. Howard var sannsynligvis den som lærte Edward B. Mounsey å fotografere.
