For this purpose, the Central American region extends into northern Colombia/Venezuela (to the Andes), South America extends to the Isthmus of Panama and includes Trinidad and Tobago (which otherwise belongs to the Caribbean region), and the Caribbean includes coastal areas of Venezuela, the Yucatan Peninsula and the Florida Keys. This is to avoid listing single-region endemics here which merely range into these border regions.
