Geass symbol

Accept this contract and you accept its conditions, while living in the world of humans, you will live unlike any other. A different providence, a different time, a different life. The power of the king will condemn you to a life of solitude. Are you prepared for this?

—The contract warning from the "granter" to the "bequeathed".

Geass (ギアス Giasu) is the supernatural ability and key term in the multiverse of Code Geass, where certain people can bestow upon others. C.C. is the most prominent character who grants the power of Geass.

Overview[]

The Geass manifests differently in each individual, possibly related to their inner desires and personality. The power of Geass increases with use, and should the user lack the willpower, they may be consumed by it, which was the case with Mao. C.C. calls Geass the Power of Kings, and though she is unable to use the power herself, she is immune to the power being used on her. In the final episode of the second season, Lelouch states that the Geass is a form of wish (referring to himself and C.C.). However, people who have Geass are not immune to the Geass effects of others. The Geass is represented by a glowing, bird-shaped symbol.

Every Geass, while powerful, has its own unique set of restrictions, limitations, or idiosyncrasies. These factors allow a Geass to be defeated, or its power limited, by someone who is aware of its characteristics. All Geass abilities that have thus far appeared within the canon of the television series have been related to the mind, influencing such things as will, thought, memory and perception. All Geass, regardless of user, appear in only one eye in the initial stages. Eventually, assuming the user lives long enough, the Geass will eventually begin to grow until it shows on both eyes, seemingly as a result of repeated use, or pushing the Geass to exceed its own limits. However, overuse and/or mental instability can lead to an affliction known as "runaway Geass" that causes the user to become unable to control their Geass, making it become permanently active.

The only cases of people who manifested a "perfect" Geass are Charles zi Britannia, Dash and Lelouch, who both showed their ability to activate their Geass at will, yet possess Geass in both eyes. Once the Geass evolves to two eyes, it is strong enough to take the Code of a Code Bearer, thereby rendering the former Code Bearer mortal again, making them an Immortal who is immune to all Geass and who loses his/her own Geass ability.

It should be noted that the death of the former Code Bearer is not a requisite for the Code transfer. This is evidenced by the fact that V.V. was still alive for quite a while after Charles already got his Code. Charles did not kill V.V., he merely succumbed to his injuries from the battle with Lelouch and Cornelia. It should also be noted that C.C. was also giving people Geass with the hopes they would render her mortal once their Geass reached maximum strength, so she could commit suicide like the nun did before her.

According to an English edition of "Newtype", the power of Geass has something to do with the very existence of humankind, and it may be used to destroy, control, or transform just about anything. This is because the "gods" of the Geass universe are actually a collection of subconscious and will that are always in conflict, and one with a powerful Geass could influence it, as Lelouch does in the series, and Charles seemingly does, and with a proper system, can also influence reality, which is the concept behind the Sword Of Akasha.

There appears to be something that connects Geass users and the ones they form contracts with, allowing them to sense certain changes in the other. C.C. was able to sense exactly when Lelouch's Geass went runaway, while Orpheus and Marrybell were both able to sense when V.V. died through a pain they felt in their Geass.

The power of Geass is not absolutely successful as there have been certain cases shown where a victim is able to resist the effects of Geass, often due to the victim's grudge against the Geass user. For example, Lelouch and Nunnally were able to negate Emperor Charles' Geass due to their acceptance of reality over false memories. Again, Euphemia and Nunnally both attempted to resist Lelouch's orders due to the fact that it was against their personalities to follow his orders, though it was rendered useless and the orders were executed nonetheless. Also, Lelouch was seen resisting Charles' Geass due to the conflict between Julius Kingsley's persona and his own after his capture at the Battle of the Tokyo Settlement. Another set of cases are the Code Bearers - beings who can bestow Geass, however the principle behind it is unknown. Notable examples are C.C., V.V., and Emperor Charles.

Geass Users[]

A Geass user is a person who possesses the power of Geass. A person acquires Geass by making a contract with an immortal Code Bearer who formerly possessed Geass. The power of Geass increases with use, and should the user lack the willpower, they may be consumed by it, which was the case with Mao.

Canonical Geass[]

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (Anime)[]

Lelouch vi Britannia's Geass[]

Main article: Lelouch vi Britannia
See also: List of Lelouch's Orders

Lelouch's Geass manifests itself as the "Power of Absolute Obedience", (絶対遵守) which allows him to plant commands within a person's mind upon direct eye contact. He is granted this ability through his contract with C.C. at the start of the series. Activation of the Geass is visually represented by the manifestation of a Geass sigil in his left eye. Commands dictated in this state are written into the minds of the designated targets once the sigil projects from his eye to theirs. The ability cannot influence the same individual twice. Geass does not have a time limit as shown when Suzaku Kururugi was commanded to "live", which continued for years, to the end of the series. Lelouch could initially toggle Geass activation at will, but subsequently loses this control and suffers from a runaway Geass. The specific causes of this are unknown, but may be related to his mental instability in the period leading up to losing his ability, excessive use or a combination of the two. This later extends to the right eye, as a result of pushing his Geass to its limit in attempting to command a massive psychic entity and becomes permanent in both his eyes. After returning to life returning from the C's World, Lelouch is now a Failed One and has complete control over his Geass being able to activate or deactivate it at will while still having it in both eyes.

Mao's Geass[]

Main article: Mao

Mao geass

Mao's Geass

Mao's Geass allowed him to telepathically hear the conscious thoughts of anyone within a radius of five hundred meters, which is called the "Seal of Absolute Sound". He could concentrate on a specific target to probe deeper into their thoughts and memories while decreasing his effective range, but was unable to read something if his target had no knowledge of or had forgotten about it.
Mao received his Geass from C.C. when he was six. When he got older, he began losing control of his Geass and became mentally unstable, it became permanently active in both of his eyes over time, forcing him to constantly listen to the thoughts of all those around him; this eventually drove him mad, leading to a clear further mental instability and an obsession with C.C., the only person whose thoughts he could not hear.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2[]

Charles zi Britannia's Geass[]

Main article: Charles zi Britannia

Charles19

Charles zi Britannia's Geass

Charles' Geass possessed the ability to freely alter an individual's memories by making direct eye contact; with it, he could totally alter a targets personality by rewriting their memories and even seal the power of another Geass user by suppressing their memory of ever possessing a Geass. Similarly, by altering a targets past experiences Charles could seal physical senses such as sight. One of the only cases of a "perfect" Geass, it manifested in both of his eyes, yet could be deactivated at will. It was suggested that Charles gained his ability from V.V. when they made their contract to "kill God", though he lost it when he took his brother's Code.
While it has no special weaknesses, its influence on Lelouch was canceled by C.C.; this might be specifically as a result of their contract, and not possible for non-Geass users or victims without a connection to her. Nunnally was also capable of breaking through the block on her eyes left by her father's Geass through sheer will, but there was no mention of regained memories, or whether or not this could have been possible had Charles still possessed his Geass and been alive at that point in time.

C.C.'s Geass[]

CC252

C.C.'s Geass

C.C.'s Geass, gained through a contract with a nun during apparently medieval times, granted her the power "to be loved", and forced anyone she used it against to fall in love with her. It originally manifested in her left eye, but eventually encompassed both along with becoming permanently active.
The effect of her Geass seems to have failed immediately after losing it in exchange for her Code, as it was shown that C.C. was quickly attacked and executed by the villagers she had previously enslaved, though it might have needed reinforcement she could no longer provide.

Bismarck Waldstein's Geass[]

Main article: Bismarck Waldstein

CodegeassR22211LG

Bismarck Waldstein's Geass

Bismarck's Geass allowed him to see into the immediate future. It is unknown how he acquired his power, though he most likely recieved it from V.V. He mainly used it in combat and despite piloting an inferior Knightmare Frame was able to fight Suzaku before the latter took advantage of his own command to "Live", an order cast on him by Lelouch, to fight on even terms. Bismarck claimed that Suzaku was the first person since Marianne he had to use his Geass against. Though this implies that he used it only sparingly, Bismarck still restrained his Geass by sewing his left eyelid shut, suggesting that it was permanently active.

Rolo Lamperouge's Geass[]

Main article: Rolo Lamperouge

Rolo Geass

Rolo Lamperouge's Geass

Rolo's Geass allowed him to suspend the subjective experience of time for all individuals within a sphere of influence, the range of which could vary depending on the situation; everyone within its area of effect, the "Seal of Absolute Suspension", would be effectively paralyzed. Despite gaining it at the age of six and making quite liberal use of it for a decade, Rolo never lost control of his Geass. It manifested in his right eye when used.
Its weakness was that it stopped Rolo's heart when used, limiting its activation to short bursts. A large number of people was also more difficult to stop, as Rolo was exhausted after he projected a field encompassing a majority of the school's campus. Finally, this Geass was unable to stop inanimate objects or physical phenomena such as speed and momentum. Rolo ultimately died when he overused his power in a short amount of time.

Marianne vi Britannia's Geass[]

Main article: Marianne vi Britannia

Marianne22

Marianne vi Britannia's Geass.

Marianne's Geass could only be used in the moment she died, and gave her the ability to transfer her spirit along with her Geass into another person's mind, which practically allowed her to cheat death. When her consciousness surfaced, she could control the body of her victim, Anya Alstreim, as if it were her own, and also telepathically speak with C.C. as a side effect. As long as it stayed intact, Marianne could even return to her original body. Her Geass manifested in her left eye when she used it and was granted to her by C.C.

Unnamed Child's Geass[]

Geass Order - Children

Unnamed Child's Geass

An unnamed child from the Geass Order displayed a Geass that allowed him to control the body of another person against their will. It seemingly needed eye contact to take effect, after which the targeted body could be manipulated through hand gestures, similar to how a puppeteer controls his puppets. It manifested in the boy's right eye when activated and was likely given to him by V.V.

Code Geass: Oz the Reflection[]

Orpheus Zevon's Geass[]

Main article: Orpheus Zevon

Orpheus's Geass, gained from a contract with V.V., gives him the ability to "become" any person he chooses. When activated, he completely takes on not only the appearance of someone else, but also their voice and gestures. This is achieved by tricking the brain of every person in a certain, currently unknown range who sees Orpheus, and does not work when seen by a camera, which has no brain to be tricked. It manifests in his left eye when in use, and later extends to his right eye as well.
The weakness of this Geass is that it deactivates itself without warning after five minutes. This limit prevents Orpheus from accurately timing its usage, as he cannot tell when it suddenly stops working. If he uses it two times in a row, he will be unable to activate it again for an entire hour. Despite this, Orpheus believes that the limitations of his Geass are insignificant in the face of its benefits. Towards the end of Oz the Reflection O2, Orpheus not only regains control of his Geass, being able to activate it at will, but its five-minute limitation eventually disappears as well.

Clara Lanfranc's Geass[]

Main article: Clara Lanfranc

Clara-geass
Clara's Geass granted her the ability to make the body of another person obey her every command regardless of the person's will. This power, by focusing on manipulating the target's body, rather than the mind, doesn't prevent them from remaining conscious while Clara uses her Geass on them. However, to use her Geass, she needed to look at her target and call out their name; as shown when Clara tried to control Orpheus, who had used his own Geass to disguise himself as Oldrin Zevon, it was necessary to use the target's true name, which is why it had no effect when she called him by the name of the person whose appearance he had assumed. As a member of the Geass Order, Clara gained her Geass by forming a contract with V.V. It manifested itself in her right eye when activated.

Toto Thompson's Geass[]

Main article: Toto Thompson

Toto-geass

Toto's "Geass of Forgetting" gave her the power to erase memories. While similar to Charles' Geass, the difference between them seems to be that Toto could only erase memories, whereas Charles manipulated them even further. A member of the Geass Order, it is likely she made her contract with V.V, before being sent to the Zevon mansion, where she was tasked with erasing Oldrin's memory every time she discovered something related to her twin brother, Orpheus.

Marrybell mel Britannia's Geass[]

Main article: Marrybell mel Britannia

Marrybell-geass
Marrybell's Geass was a harsher version of Lelouch's, called "Absolute Submission". It gave her the ability to enslave anyone she used it on, turning her targets into mindless dolls that are forced to follow Marrybell's every order and possess no ego of their own. She gained her Geass by making a contract with V.V. and it manifested itself in Marrybell's left eye when activated. She used it on the female knights that made up the Knights of Riddle, and such was the excess in its use that it bordered on losing control.

Euliya's Geass[]

Main article: Euliya

Euliya-geass

Although not shown directly in the series, it was revealed after the end of Oz the Reflection that Euliya's Geass allowed her to transfer her consciousness and memories into specific substances. Similar to Marianne's or Shamna's Geass, it could be only activated at the time of the user's death. It allowed her to communicate with Oldrin, in front of her grave, as well as at the end of O2, from the cord that Orpheus carried with him, which used to belong to her when she was alive. While manifesting to another person, she has been seen to be able to show them her own memories vividly.[1]

Code Geass: Akito the Exiled[]

Shin Hyuga Shaing's Geass[]

Main article: Shin Hyuga Shaing

Shin Hyuga Shaing's Geass

Shin's Geass is first revealed when he forces Michele Manfredi to commit suicide by telling him to "Take a trip"; in a flashback, he was shown to have killed a multitude of people with it by using the simple order "Die". Shin's Geass is the ability to make those he loves kill themselves, stemming from his beliefs that life is painful and a curse. This is described by the spirit of his mother as his wish to free his loved ones from the "curse". This limitation does not appear to be known or understood by Shin, as he tries to use his Geass on Leila but to no effect. When used, it manifests in his left eye. Eventually, it spreads to his right eye as well.
Akito Hyuga is the only person to have mysteriously lived after being subjugated to this Geass, due to his being too young to understand the concept of death at the time. Instead of dying, Akito executes this order from Shin's perspective through performing murders in physical means, all senses are enhanced as a side effect of the order. Similar to when Lelouch plants the command to "Live" in Suzaku, the effect of Shin's Geass remained in his subconscious, and influences him during battle. This command is also able to influence the other members of the W-0 Unit through a brain raid over the neuro devices they use. Shin is also capable of sensing when the command activates while he is near Akito. Akito, however, is shown being able to overcome the Geass, refusing to kill Leila Malcal when Shin tries to make him do so.
Shin's Geass is also unique in that he did not enter into a contract with someone with a Code like C.C. or V.V. Rather, after he had killed his father, a vision of a skull with symbol of Geass manifested before him and offered him the power of the king.

Leila's Geass

Hinted at during her confrontation with Anou and confirmed in the official guidebook to the second episode of Akito the Exiled, the C.C.'s Story manga, Leila possesses a Geass granted to her by C.C. when she was a child. Because of her age, C.C. told her that if she did not awaken the power before she reached adulthood, it would disappear. According to the Caretaker of Spacetime it is a "Fragment of Geass" due to laying dormant for so long, which gives it a unique blue color. It manifest in Leila's left eye when activated.
Leila's Geass is the power to connect minds, born from her desire that both friend and foe could understand one another.

His Geass messes with the target's perception, making them see him in the form of their allies and their allies in his form.

Shamna's Geass[]

Main article: Shamna

According to her, Shamna's Geass used to allow her to see the future. However, when she attempted to receive her Code, due to the instability in C's World, she recived the Code but instead of losing the ability to use her Geass, it was changed to the ability to being able to "go back in time" by six hours after dying, an ability she utilizes by repeatedly committing suicide.

Galonzo's Geass[]

Galonzo's Geass, obtained from a Geass Fragment, allows him to detect lies in other people's words, by means of smell. When activated, a Geass symbol appears on his nose.

Code Geass: Roze of the Recapture[]

Sakuya Sumeragi's Geass[]

Main article: Sakuya Sumeragi

SakuyaGeass
A Geass L.L. gave to Sakuya. Similar to his Power of Absolute Obedience but instead of direct eye contact it uses sound to work. Unlike other Geass the symbol manifests on the throat instead of the eye. If there are many people in one place, Sakuya has been shown to be able to use her Geass on a specific target, usually by saying the target's name.
Since the spread of this power occurs through the user's voice, it is necessary for Sakuya to remove her necklace as Rozé, which by modifying her natural voice, nullifies the effect of her Geass.
At the end of the series, Sakuya, believing herself to be unable to use her geass responsibly, uses it on herself to make herself mute, thereby sealing away her geass.

Code Geass: Renya of Darkness[]

Lorenzo il Soresi's Geass[]

Main article: Lorenzo il Soresi

Lorenzo's Geass is the ability to dominate others in several ways: from having them experience realistic illusions, to torturous ones, to revealing key points in their past, to outright subjugating their free will. It manifests in his left eye, although in two panels it is seen in his right eye instead.

Shiori's Geass[]

Main article: Shiori

Shiori's Geass is the ability to reverse the order of priorities in one's heart. While that in itself might lead to uncharacteristic decisions, the person it is used on will still retain their personality and ambitions. It manifests in her right eye.

Dash's Geass[]

Main article: Dash

Sir Dash's Geass, gained through his contract with U.U., is the ability to steal the life force of people in an indeterminate range. It originally manifested in his right eye, before spreading to his left one as well, while at the same time going runaway. However, Dash appears to have managed to get it back under control, rendering it a case of a "perfect" Geass.

Moriarty's "Geass of Desire" has the ability to permanently remove mental suppressants and inhibitions in a person, whether they be conscious of them or not. This causes targets to undergo a change in their character, having a range of effects such as bringing out a person's ambitions, or bringing out a side of them that they didn't know existed.

Toshizoh's geass allowed him to detect falsehoods in someone's heart. Able to gather information behind someone's words, guessing the truth or lie in them, and discovering what they really hide.

Code Geass: Fragments of the Mosaic[]

Elisa Liechtenstein's Geass[]

Princess of the Principality of Liechtenstein, she had met C.C. in the past and received a Geass from her. Her Geass allows her to become invisible. She would use it to sneak out from the castle at night. She can also make objects she is holding invisible too, such as guns. Even if she picks them up while invisible, they can vanish. Her Geass became permanently active six months prior to the Britannians arriving on her country's border.

Orson McGillis's Geass[]

Orson's Geass is the power of regret. When Orson makes eye contact, the target becomes overcome with regret for their actions, becoming even more docile and willing to confess their actions. If their regret is great enough, this can cause the target to commit suicide. He mentioned getting it from the Devil.

Ayana Fushimi's Geass[]

Ayana's Geass, like Orpheus', allows her to change the perception of her target to think she is someone else. She uses this after her older brother Yuichi became unstable and fell into denial after his bride Satomi was killed in an attack from Britannia during their wedding. When she couldn't seem to help him any other way, she made him think she was Satomi and lived with him. However, unlike Orpheus' Geass, this power doesn't seem to act on everyone who interacts with her, as while Yuichi saw her as Satomi, other people continued to see her under her normal appearance. She got the ability when she was a child, during a trip to China, probably from C.C.

Gerald Heidnik's Geass[]

A priest living in Harlem known for miraculous healing, Gerald was actually an "Angel of Death"-type serial killer, using his Geass to do, what he thought was, putting poor and sick people out of their misery. His Geass makes it so wherever his palm touches another's flesh, that part ceases to function. Many of his victims were thought to have died of heart attacks because he placed his hand over their hearts, and the Pluton detective chasing him, Thomas Russ, was blinded by Gerald covering his eyes with his hand. Like Eliza, he appears to have received his power from C.C. On occasion, he has used it in his church to "cure" people's pain, likely by stopping the nerves from transmitting pain.

Wanda Leap's Geass[]

A student who transferred to Ashford Academy following its rebuilding after the first attack on the Tokyo Settlement. Her Geass is much like Toto's, allowing her to erase memories. She's unusual in that she uses it incredibly sparingly, fearing that her loved ones would turn away from her, so it never goes runaway. She tried to use her Geass repeatedly on her crush, Chris Todd, to make him forget seeing her underwear at the Knight of Seven Welcome Party, but she's too embarrassed to look him in the eyes. She only manages to use it on him after he caught her using it on her best friend, Amanda Laker, to make her forget the pain of her parents' death; Wanda uses it on Chris to make him forget everything about her, however, years later, he meets her again and falls in love with her.

Geass Canceler[]

Jeremiah Gottwald's Geass Canceler[]

Geass Canceller

Jeremiah Gottwald's Geass Canceler

A peculiar Geass-related power gained by Jeremiah as a result the Code R modifications, Jeremiah's Geass Canceler manifests in his left eye and unlike other powers of Geass is represented by an inverted blue version of the bird-like Geass sigil. As Jeremiah's left eye was shown to be a cybernetic replacement in his final appearance in the first season, it is assumed that this is also a cybernetic eye. This ability appears to cancel out all other Geass effects within a given range, hence the name "Geass Canceler". It will automatically reverse any Geass used on Jeremiah or anybody else in its range.

Following his restoration as a cyborg by Christoph Scissorman, using data leftover from Bartley Asprius and studying victims of Sakuya's Geass, Arnold was able to be given a Geass Canceler. Unlike Jeremiah, whose Canceler was hidden beneath his half-mask, Arnold's is in both of his cybernetic eyes that appear normal when it is not in use.

Geass in other media[]

Nightmare of Nunnally[]

Within the world of the spin off series, Code Geass: Nightmare of Nunnally, geass operates differently then it does in the canon material. A Geass is obtained by one gaining a connection to Eden Vital and does not possess the limitation of being mind-based. Aside from normal geasses which are created via a contract, there are also Wired Geass and Artificial Geass. Some geass users are also capable of summoning Knightmare Frames.

Normal Geass[]

Nunnally & Nemo's Geass[]
Nemo's Geass

Nemo using Nunnally's geass.

Upon contract with the entity known as Nemo, Nunnally and Nemo gain the shared ability to read the "Lines of the Future", functionally identical to precognition. A red, bird-like sigil lights up in Nemo's left eye when the ability is activated. Nemo also gains the baility to summon the Mark Nemo Knightmare frame.
Lelouch and C.C.'s Geass[]
NoN Zero

Lelouch with his geass active.

C.C.'s geass, which she later shared with Lelouch, manifests black armor with a variety of abilities, including strengthening the wearer enough to equal a knightmare, transforming the cape into sharp tendrils, disabling knightmares with the D.O.M. Hostia system, and teleportation, among others. Unlike the other geass connected to C.C. Lelouch maintained this one after she died. This geass also grants the ability to summon the Gawain.
Marianne vi Britannia's Geass, "The Soul"[]
Marianne's Geass is the same as it is in the anime, allowing her to transport her soul into another person's body. She gained this geass by making a contract with C.C. right before she died.

Wired Geass[]

A Wired Geass (ワイヤードギアス Waiyādo Giasu) is a geass where someone is able to establish a connection to Eden vital without the use of a contract. Those with Wired Geasses are considered to have the qualities of the Demon King Wired Geasses tend to be more powerful/conceptual then normal or artificial geasses. Multiple people suspected that Suzaku Kururugi possessed a wired Geass, though this is later confirmed to be false.

Charles zi Britannia's Geass, "The Dead Rise"[]
Charles Geass allows him to resurrect the dead as his slaves. He first used the Geass when he and his parents were murdered, allowing him to obtain immortality. A Geass sigil appears in his right eye when he was seen using it in a flashback.
Lelouch and Nunnally vi Brittania's Geass, "The Zero"[]
This is the wired geass possesses by both Lelouch and Nunnally. This Geass is described by Nemo as the "Power that returns all creation into Nothingness". This geass is considered described as the key to Eden Vital as it can open the "Door to Heaven", creating a portal to Eden Vital which Charles, Marianne, and C.C are planning to use to collect the consciousness of humanity back into a single entity and kill God. Nunnally first used this power to forcibly erase her contract with Nemo and later nearly used it to fulfill her parents ambitions and open Heaven's door. Lelouch later uses it to erase C.C.'s immortality, allowing her to die.

Artificial Geass[]

An Artificial geass is a geass obtained through artificial means. The Irregulars possesses artificial geasses as a result of them being injected with C.C.'s cells. While her cells are normally suppressed by a series of drugs, users can take a neutralizer to temporarily enhanced their geasses to more powerful levels. Unlike normal geasses which manifest the symbol in the eyes, most artificial geasses manifest a the geass symbol on the user's forhead.

Alice's Geass, "The Speed"[]
Alicecolor

Alice with her geass active

Alice's geass "The Speed," allows her to hyper-accelerate all objects within a given radius by manipulating local gravitational pull. When active, a Geass sigil appears upon Alice's forehead. When taking the neutralizer Alices speed is increased to the point where her movements resemble teleportation. Following her deal with Nemo, Alice gained the ability to summon the Code Geass. The knightmare enhances her geass, allowing her to accelerate herself infinitely, which she used to bypass the time stopage of, Rolo's geass.
Sancia's Geass, "The Od"[]
Sancia 2

Sancia with her geass active.

Sancia's Geass accurately identifies the positions of targets within a given range and precisely calculates their probable movement trajectories based on all known variables. The name of "Od" refers to the flow of energy that life itself possesses (what has affinity with Sancia's power). Conversely, the flow of energy in nature or the earth is called "Mana".
Lucretia's Geass, "The Land"[]
Lucretia cockpit

Lucretia with her geass active.

Lucretia's Geass allows her to map three-dimensional terrain accurately within a given range.
Dalque's Geass, "The Power"[]
Dalque 2

Dalque with her geass active.

Dalque's Geass augments her physical strength by exaggerating the magnitude of macroscopic forces.
Mao's Geass, "The Refrain"[]
Mao Profile (NoN)

Mao with her geass active.

On meeting another's eyes with her left pupil, Mao is capable of reading memories or forcing a victim to relive past experiences, not unlike the drug by the same name. Unlike the other irregulars, her geass manifests in her left eye rather then on her forehead.
Rolo vi Britannia's Geass, "The Ice"[]
Rolo's Geass allows him to freeze anything in his area of effect, even time (most likely a reference to his anime counterpart). He can also use it to directly freeze a target's Knightmare Frame and pilot. This geass also grants him the ability to summon and control The Vincent. While he initially believed it to be a wired geass, it is later revealed that he obtained it by being injected with C.C.'s cells while still an embryo, making it artificial.

Suzaku of the Counterattack[]

Lelouch's Geass[]

Lelouch uses his geass (SotC)

Lelouch's geass.

Lelouch's geass is the same as his canon counterpart. He acquired his geass through his contract with C.C. It allows him to force others to obey his commands upon eye contact. It can also be used to set conditional orders, such as when his geass on Kallen only activated after his capture.

Suzaku's Geass[]

Suzaku with a geass (SotC)
