Dora Winifred "D.W." Read is Arthur's younger sister in Marc Brown's Arthur books and the PBS Kids television series based on them. She is a four year old female aardvark who loves Mary Moo Cow (a parody of Barney the Dinosaur), talking with her imaginary friend Nadine Flumberghast, and playing with her friends. One of her dislikes is being called by her full name. Like her brother, D.W. also learns important life lessons like caring for others including her family and how to deal with being teased. The animated series had a recurring gag about D.W. trying to blame Arthur for the disappearance of her snowball she kept in the freezer starting with season one's "D.W.'s Snowball Mystery" and finally ended with season twenty-five's "All Will Be Revealed!" when it turned out that Nadine kept the snowball all along.
In Arthur's Perfect Christmas, like her family, D.W. is shown getting ready for Christmas and has been hoping to get the popular toy Tina the Talking Tabby. Unbeknownst to her, Jane couldn't find the toy while she and Arthur were Christmas shopping due to the fact that the toy was quickly sold out. On Christmas Day, D.W. was instead given a talking toy duck called Quackers. At first, she was disappointed, but quickly grew to accept the toy.
