Godric found me, said I could "unite the demon world" because of who my dad was. The Caine name meant something, apparently.

The Demon Overlord is an old demonic myth that was used by Abigael Jameson-Caine to instil fear into fellow demons. She believed it was her job as Overlord to unite the demon world by ending war between all of the demon bloodlines. After Abigael left Seattle, she left this position vacant. It is currently unknown who will take her place.

History[]

The Demon Overlord is an old demonic myth regarding a demon that will reunite all demons and bring about the extinction of witches. Long ago, an upper-level demon named Zagan the Great ruled the demon world. After his death, he was remembered as one of the greatest Demon Overlords of all time and the position was never filled until Parker Caine claimed the throne. He used the alias with the hope of ending the war between demons and witches. Abigael Jameson-Caine, on the other hand, believed Parker to be weak, unworthy and under the control of Maggie Vera, leading her to taking back the title from Parker. The demon Godric seemed to have taken the role of righthand man to the Overlord. Initially finding Parker worthy of the role as the Overlord, Godric began working with Abigael after Parker was reunited with Maggie.

Abigael Jameson-Caine later claimed it for herself when she conspired with Godric to take down Parker. Her first order of business was forbidding demons from attacking witches. Several weeks later, Godric, feeling betrayed and threatened by Abigael's alliance with the Vera-Vaughn Charmed Ones, turned against her and attempted to claim the throne for himself.

In the months that came, after regaining her demonic form and thus her full strength, Abigael somehow reclaimed the title and power over the demonic world. However, months later after having made amends with her sister, Abigael abdicated her position and willingly gave up her role as Overlord with the promise of returning if the new Overlord and demonkind ever attacked witches again. She left Seattle for an unknown destination to be with her sister and niece.

Trivia[]

  • During the second and third seasons, it was shown that it is not so difficult to take the Overlord's throne, so it remains unknown why Alastor did not take on this role during his lifetime, when he had every chance. Especially when Godric mentioned that "The Caine name meant something."
  • Godric and the other demons stopped chasing Abigael between Search Party and An Inconvenient Truth for unknown reasons.
    • However, this was no longer necessary if Godric achieved his main goal and became the new Demon Overlord.[1]
  • Apparently, the Overlord in the reboot was supposed to be an analogue of the ruler of the Underworld from the original.

  1. Godric did not appear in the third season. However, in An Inconvenient Truth, Abigael said that she's a loser who's not being guarded because she doesn't have any enemies. This suggests that Godric may have gained the coveted title of Demon Overlord after her exile, which explains why the demonic world has lost all interest in Abigael.
