“ | I made a vow to show others the glory of the Wood Scouts. And I told you...to call me SNAKE! | ” |
Billy "Snake" Nikssilp is a Wood Scout. Initially portrayed as having ditched the Wood Scouts, it is revealed that he is, rather, a devout Wood Scout. Snake also seems to be keen for those around him to refer to him as Snake, rather than his actual name “Billy”. The reason behind his nickname is currently unknown. However since "snake" can refer to a deceitful and untrustworthy person, it can refer to him betraying Max, Neil, and Nikki in his first appearance.
Appearance[]
Snake is seen wearing the usual Wood Scout attire with an eye patch. In Scout's Dishonor, He's shown to be eating a candy cane that has a sharp end. He also wears bandaging tape around his wrists.
Personality[]
Snake is seen to be rather devoted to the Wood Scout organization - to the point of kidnapping other campers (such as Max in the episode "Scout's Dishonor"), as well as militantly talking up other campers to try and persuade them to his side in "The Lake Lilac Summer Social". He also appears to be keen to follow troop leader Edward Pikeman's orders and support him where necessary, as shown in "Gwen Gets a Job", when he gave Pikeman thumbs up when he was discussing his 'relationship' with Gwen. However he can find Pikeman's arrogance to be annoying, which he mentions in "Operation: Charlie Tango Foxtrot". Snake openly supports Pikeman's frequent efforts to try and take over Camp Campbell (the most prominent examples of which can be seen in the episodes "Jermy Fartz", "Operation: Charlie Tango Foxtrot" and "Camp Loser Says What?").
Snake is also seen to have a sensitive side, as shown in "The Lake Lilac Summer Social", when he expresses his heartfelt attraction to Tabii to his cohort Petrol. He also visibly tears up after Tabii mentions that she was only using him for Neil's attention and mentioned she was treating him 'like shit' the entire time.
Snake may also be a sociopath, or at least show sociopathic/bipolar tendencies, as shown in "Scout's Dishonor" when he literally stabs Max with a jagged candy cane, and in "Gwen Gets a Job", when he suggests killing the Flower Scouts in order to beat their cookie sales (although he said it was Petrol's idea).
He seems to want to give others the impression that he's stronger than he actually is. In his flashback in "Operation: Charlie Tango Foxtrot", he portrays himself with an actual scar on his eye, large muscles, a five o clock shadow, and portrays the rest of his team (especially Pikeman) as incompetent. Since he has two working eyes, he wears the eye patch for decoration to seem hardcore.
Trivia[]
- Snake is among few characters in the show to have their last names revealed. This is alongside Preston Goodplay, Cameron Campbell, Neil Armstrong Jr. (Space Kid), Edward Pikeman, Jermy Fartz, Gaylord Nurfington (Nurf), Stephen van Petrol (Petrol), Dolph Houston, Penelope Priss, Meredith Miller (Ered) and Cameron Junior "CJ" Campbell.
- The character's name is a direct reference to Snake Plissken, the main character from John Carpenter's film "Escape from New York". His surname is (almost) "Plissken" spelled backward.
- Unlike Tabii Snake has two working eyes, as revealed in "The Lake Lilac Summer Social". The reason for wearing the eye patch is most likely to reinforce his tough-guy persona.
- Snake is voiced by Dante Basco, who also voices Zuko in Avatar: The Last Airbender. By extension, the eyepatch Snake wears may be a subtle reference to Zuko's scar, over his left eye.
- Snake first appears in the episode 'Scout's Dishonor' Which may also be a subtle reference to how Zuko was desperate for Honor.
