Cutman or metalman? I'm pretty sure this guy draws inspiration from them.

neither, he doesnt look either of them Ataro 23:23, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Then which sentai series does he look like? He does show resemblance to at least Metalman, a small red guy armed with round metal blades all over his body, everyone I know said the same thing. - unsigned comment from Pialga92 (talkcontribs)

Not very familiar with the series, but Red from 轟轟戦隊ボウケンジャー(Go Go Sentai Boukenja, ENG: Power Rangers Operation Overdrive) was the one who best matched Kirikizan among the images that I found in a basic search. Hopefully someone who's a little more knowledgeable about the series will lend a hand...? Kamen no Otoko 12:32, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
He's Kamen Rider Black. Tolstak 22:59, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
For the Mega Man thing we could see at the Mega Man wiki --EzekielMaple 21:29, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Sorry but... It learns Stealth Rock by breeding with himself who learn it by breeding with... That's quite nonsense, huh ? --Qulbu 11:11, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

You can teach Stealth Rock to a male Chimchar, Monferno or Infernape in Generation IV, PokéShift it over, and breed it with a female Komatana or Kirikizan. MetalMetroid997 10:04, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

I know that the list of English names of Pokémon is still unconfirmed, but if it is true, then Kirikizan's English name - Bisharp - could give some clues to another possible origin. Along with Kamen Rider, Kirikizan could also be based upon the bishop chess piece. Maybe we could add this to it's origin if it turns out to be true. GoldenZekrom 00:00, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

  • I am 99% certain that Bisharp is not inspired by any Super Sentai or tokusatsu heroes at all. He's a reference to Pulseman, one of Game Freak's earlier games. There's actually an article here about the references between Pulseman and Pokemon. [1] It lists Ladien and Rotom as inspired by Pulseman. The latter is a really weird example, because Rotom looks a lot less like Pulseman than Bisharp. Any google search of Pulseman compared to Bisharp will make pretty convincing evidence. The blades on his helmet, the red yellow and black colourscheme, and humanoid mouth. I don't know how Rotom made the list and Bisharp didn't. It's definitively not a Super Sentai or Kamen Rider reference. Also his steel type. Pulseman was a robot. It's fairly obvious! (Flintlock (talk) 06:01, 17 June 2012 (UTC))
I actually think he's based on Evil Pulseman, which is why he has a Dark/Steel type. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwBe0Gn-6Ws - unsigned comment from Flintlock (talkcontribs)
