In Japan, this card was given to customers who bought 1,000¥ worth of eligible Pokémon Trading Card Game products from participating stores starting from July 13, 2012, the release date of Freeze Bolt • Cold Flare. An alternate version with the Pokémon Center stamp was made available if this store was the Pokémon Center.

In Korea, this card is one of the BW Black Star Promos, and commemorated the theatrical release of Kyurem VS. The Sword of Justice.
