Showdown with this season's Big Bads![1]
Summary[]
On the roof of a building, Whistler prepares the pure magic while Pearl and Nash fight Angel and Faith. Nadira arrives and attacks Nash, declaring her revenge. Angel takes the opportunity to confront Whistler, reiterating how wrong it is to murder one third of the planet to "save" it. Whistler reveals his ability to turn into a blue-horned demon who easily melts the weapon in Angel's hand and remarks he always thought one of them would kill the other.
As Faith tries to fight Pearl off, she reflects on how Nadira only has slaying to keep her going, "just like her mentor." Nash gains the upper hand, severely burning Nadira with his eye beams, and she falls to the floor.
Lavinia, Sophronia, Alasdair, and Giles arrive in the place stocked with weapons, spells, and rune stones to protect them from the magical plague. Lavinia and Sophronia take the weapons up to the roof while Alasdair and Giles use the energy in the air to cast a spell. Sophronia throws a weapon to Faith but misses. Improvising, Faith pushes Pearl to the ground, smashing her head on it. Nash prepares to release the magic plague. Angel catches a sword from Lavinia and aims it at Nash, who easily deflects it.
Giles and Alasdair conjure up a small fireball. Giles launches it at Nash, making him drop the magic plague orb. Angel, Faith, Whistler, and Pearl try to catch it while it falls. Instead, it explodes over the people watching from the street. They observe as the sparkly dust falls over them, but the spectators begin to feel pain as they turn into writhing mutants; tentacles escape a man's mouth, another catches on fire, wings rip a woman's back, and a man's skin melts off. Pearl declares the future has arrived and promises to bring it to the rest of the world.
