Petrie's writing credits include the television series Spectros, The Defenders, Daredevil, American Horror Story, Common Law, Charlie's Angels, Pushing Daisies, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, The Batman, The 4400, Tru Calling, The Ren & Stimpy Show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Clarissa Explains It All, and Rugrats; as well as the film Harriet the Spy. He also directed episodes of Spectros and The 4400.
