Pilchard

Pilchard is Bob's pet cat. She often finds herself in problematic situations, like making her way into the middle of a construction job, which may or may not be on purpose.

Personality[]

Pilchard is generally a lazy cat. She is loved by Bob, Wendy, and the machines. Pilchard is also shown to be somewhat ungrateful as seen in Bob's White Christmas, where she looks at a present placed in front of her then pushes it away without opening it. In the first series, Pilchard was known to be very adventurous as well as also showing up to the job sites without being noticed. She is also very curious about things and likes fish. In Pilchard Goes Fishing, she attempted to get Bob's pet fish, Finn, but was distracted ungaurd.

Pilchard is a light blue cat with black striped markings along her back and tail. She has two long black whiskers on each cheek and tiny black eyes. Her nose is the same colour as her fur.

• Pilchard's name is a term for sardines, a type of fish fish one can find packed in tin cans.
• Pilchard is female in both English dubs, but is male in some foreign language dubs.
• In the international versions:
  • In the Finnish version, Pilchard is called "Kisu", which is Finnish for "kitty".
  • In the German version, Pilchard is called "Kuschel", which is German for "cuddle".
  • Pilchard's name means "Sardine" in the French, Russian and Turkish versions.
  • In the Italian version, Pilchard is called "Alice".
  • In the Brazilian Portuguese version, Pilchard is called "Pituca".
• Pilchard is the only major animal character to appear in the reboot.
  • She is also the only Bob the Builder animal character in the 'Official Children in Need Medley' music video, despite of being one of the characters who are not singing.
