- This article is about the Orient Expedition figure. For other uses, see Yeti.
The Yeti is an Adventurers Big Figure introduced in 2003 based on a Himalayan myth. The Yeti is exclusive to the set 7412 Yeti's Hideout.
Description[]
The Yeti uses the same build as Tygurah and Jun-Chi and consists of seven white pieces. Legs and arms are attached to a body assembled from two Technic Brick 1X2, Ø4.9 and one Plate 2X2. This is covered by a single large piece (unique to the Yeti) that comprises the Yeti's furry torso and the head, which is molded in a gape-mouthed expression. In some official photos (such as the set's alternate models), the Yeti wields at least one club as a weapon.
Background[]
The Yeti is a mythical ape-like creature from the Himalaya mountain range, and is both feared and respected by local villagers, to whom it is known as "Rakshasa". Although it is considered a sacred creature to the Sherpa, Ngan Pa seeks to hunt the Yeti.
While on Mount Everest, Pippin Reed is attracted to a shrine where she finds an emerald. The angry Yeti emerges from its cave and gives chase to Pippin. She managed to escape with the emerald by stunning the Yeti with the flash on her camera. In 4215473 Die Suche nach dem Goldenen Drachen, the blinded Yeti hits its head on a rock and knocks itself out, and at Sherpa Sangye Dorje's insistence, the adventurers bandage its head before leaving. In Episode Three: Mystery on Mount Everest, the heroes are chased by the Yeti again, forcing them to hurry to the Temple of Mount Everest.
In Dashing Through The Snow!, the Yeti snowboards down the Snowboard Boarder Cross Race, causing the confused adventurers to think that this is Mount Everest. Johnny Thunder snowboards alongside the Yeti to warn everyone else to watch out for it.
According to the instruction booklet of 10273 Haunted House, Samuel von Barron's hook was bitten off by the Yeti when he stole the Golden Dingus from its shrine. He easily replaced it with another hook.
In the Orient Expedition board game, the Yeti is a baddie with +3 luck, +2 speed, and +6 strength.

ANIMAL FEATURE: Legend holds that a mysterious hairy ape-like creature called the Yeti dwells somewhere in the Himalayas. This 'abominable snowman' seems to be shy, preferring to stay far away from places where people live. No one has ever been able to photograph a Yeti, and there is as yet no scientific proof that it really exists. "But if that beast is out there," says intrepid scientist-explorer Dr. Kilroy, "then by Jove I intend to find it!" |
