The Spinosaurus (SPIEN-o-SAWR-us) is a LEGO dinosaur introduced in 2001. It was first released as part of the Dinosaurs theme and Studios theme in 2001 and was later featured in the LEGO Jurassic World video game.

Background[]

In Dinosaurs, the Spinosaurus is one of four forms of the transforming Tyrannosaurus rex, which it uses to ambush the Director, Cameraman, and Flex after luring them in as a Parasaurolophus in LEGO Mania Magazine comics. Multiple Spinosaurus appear as carnivorous enemy NPCs in The Great LEGO Dino Quest.

In Studios, a Spinosaurus is used during the filming of Jurassic Park III. It attacks the Stunt Man, whose plane is crashed into a prop tree. In Backlot, property master Bob tests tourists' knowledge of cinema by asking them to identify which film features the Spinosaurus.

The Spinosaurus is the main antagonist in Jurassic Park III section of LEGO Jurassic World.

Spinosaurus
"spine lizard"
SPINE-oh-SAWR-us
Although longer than Tyrannosaurus, Spinosaurus was a much more lightly-built meat-eater. Scientists aren't sure what the strange sail on its back was used for. It may have let the dinosaur shed excess heat from its body, or perhaps it helped to attract or frighten off other dinosaurs.
