Aang is a minifigure introduced in 2006, as part of the Avatar: The Last Airbender line.
Description[]
Aang's bald head is light nougat with a very excited, manga styled face. He has the front of a blue arrow starting at the top of his face and ending in the middle of his eyes.
Background[]
Aang is the last remaining airbender after the Air Nomad Genocide. As an airbender, he is the ability to manipulate (referred to as "bending") air and use it for his advantage. He is the reincarnation of the Avatar named Roku. As the Avatar, Aang can control all four elements (water, earth, fire, air) and is given the ability to enter into the Avatar Spirit State (in which his eyes and tattoos glow and he is given unspeakable power from the previous Avatar reincarnations and the spirits alike), in which he enters once deep emotion or danger occurs, or when he clears his chakras.
Due to the pressure and loneliness he experienced from being the Avatar, when he was 12, he ran away from his home, the Southern Air Temple, Riding on the back of his flying bison Appa, Aang nearly drowned in a horrible storm, but saved himself by triggering the Avatar State and preserving himself and Appa in an iceberg for one century, though remaining biologically 12 the whole time. Katara and Sokka discovered Aang, 100 years later, when the Fire Nation was nearing victory in war.
He joins the two (and a new friend Momo) to travel to the North Pole, so he and Katara can learn waterbending. Along the way, he is constantly tailed by Prince Zuko, a disgraced member of the Fire Nation who seeks redemption by capturing the Avatar and ensuring victory for the Fire Nation.
After learning water bending at the North Pole, he travels with his friends to the Earth Kingdom, where he meets a blind girl named Toph, who is secretly a powerful earthbender who decides to become Aang's second teacher. However, when Aang has to learn firebending, he is hesitant to do so after his last attempt injured Katara.
During an attack by Zuko's sadistic sister Azula, Aang is killed by Azula's bolt of lightning. However, unbeknownst to anyone except Zuko, Katara still had a bottle of healing water from the North Pole, which she used to resurrect him.
Later, as an alternative to learning Firebending, he leads an invasion on the Fire Nation during a solar eclipse, where the Firebender’s source of power (the sun) is absent. The invasion fails after the eclipse ends, though it is enough to convince Zuko to finally abandon the evil ways of the Fire Nation and accept his role as Aang's firebending teacher.
Once Fire Lord Ozai decides to invade the Earth Kingdom, Aang's team realizes that Ozai will become unstoppable. Despite lacking most of his earthbending and firebending skills, Aang knows he has to defeat Ozai once and for all before the Fire Lord invades the largest kingdom in the world. However, this battle will take place on the day Sozin's Comet is visible to the world, a comet which will greatly empower the Fire nation.
Despite this, Aang is able to enter the Avatar State once more, and using the power to all four elements, bests the renamed Phoenix King Ozai in combat, but refusing to take the life of another person, Aang decides to instead remove Ozai's firebending abilities, successfully fulfilling his duties as the Avatar, and saving the world.
