The Baby's Here! is the 8th episode of Blue's Clues from Season 4. This is the 4th episode involving the story arc to introduce Cinnamon.

Summary[]

They have waited and the moment everyone's been looking forward to has finally come: Mrs. Pepper is ready to have her baby. While she is at the hospital and they wait for Mr. Salt's phone call, they do things like look at baby albums to pass the time. Soon, they visit the baby hospital with Blue, Steve, and Paprika and meet the baby. Finally, the baby comes home and they give him a special welcome home.

  • The Baby Doctor from the baby hospital did not appear at the end of this episode because she was very busy.
  • Cinnamon debuts in this episode. However, he is silent, so his voice actor, Annalivia Balaban, is credited as a friend of Steve instead. This also happens in Rhyme Time. Caleb Rubin is also one, related to Music & Sound Designer Michael Rubin.
  • Although Steve or Blue did not appear in the intro, Steve was actually inside the house instead of appearing in front of it, outside on their way to the front door. This happens again in the next episode, Making Changes. As a result, Mailbox can be seen tossing with his flag, even though Blue did not have her ball with her.
  • This is the first episode that Steve, Blue and their friends met Cinnamon.
  • In "What's New, Blue?", Cinnamon is on the newspaper.
    • The episode is chronology and the show is in production, rather than the premiere order.
  • This is the episode to feature Cinnamon.
    • Usually, when the silent opening is used, Steve appears in front of the house where the episode starts outside.
    • Ironically, both episodes had people talking different things instead of their usual dialogue.
  • This episode is the second time Steve does not ask Blue the question for Blue's Clues. Instead, he says, "Yeah! We should do something special. You know, to welcome the new baby." as a statement. Blue immediately hopped up and placed the signal paw print on the screen after that. The first time this happened was in Something To Do Blue, except Steve said, "First thing you need is to pick out a few things.". This also happened in Superfriends, where Stripe-Man says, "That is a good question, Super Soap! And the answer can only be found by…" after Super Soap's question.
  • Just like Paprika, Cinnamon made his debut by being born in this episode.
  • Unlike Paprika's birth in Blue's News, Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper go to the hospital when Cinnamon is born.
  • This is the fifth (and last) time that Steve plays the guitar when he's singing the So Long Song.
  • This is the first appearance of Cinnamon, Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper's baby boy, as well as Grandma Cayenne's first speaking appearance.
  • This episode is the second of two on the "Blue's Big News Volume 2: The Baby's Here!" VHS.
  • In the closing credits:
    • Lisa Kudrow received a "Featuring As" credit for her role as the voice of the Baby Doctor. She may have been given this type of credit since she is well known for her role as Phoebe Buffay in Friends.
      • The North Shore University Hospital at Forest Hills received a "Special Thanks" credit.
        • Ananlivia Balaban (Voice of Cinnamon in this episode and child of the voice of Mr. Salt) is credited as one of Steve's Friends but will be credited under Characters in future episodes.
          • This is a David B. Levy episode and the common traditional order appears for the first time. Tickety does her 2nd action. This order also appears again in Something To Do Blue.
  • In the Mailtime segment:
    • The end of the "Mailtime" song was interrupted by Mr. Salt calling to check on things at the Blue's Clues house.
      • Mailbox then asks that Steve yells "Mailllll!" before he gets his letter, so he does.
        • Mailbox wonders if the baby has been born yet, but Steve says that it has not and that it takes time.
  • The name of Steve's friend in the letter is revealed to be Christopher (or Chris for short), but his then-new baby sister's name is never revealed.
  • The music when Steve sings "The Baby's Here" was used in this episode which would later be reused in Season 5 episodes as Joe's greeting.
  • The crying sound of Baby Kate from the PBS Kids show Arthur was heard and reused in this episode.
    • It is heard when Steve and Blue are looking at the baby crocodiles, and one of them cries.
  • This is another time Steve doesn't listen carefully enough to "A Clue!". It is also the only Season 4 episode where he doesn't listen carefully.
    • It's when the 3rd clue (open wide mouth picture) was found. He was "Yeah, I know, he's coming soon."
    • This makes one of the characters aside from Blue to leave a clue in the original series, the other being Steve.
  • Steve plays the guitar at the end of the episode.
  • This marks the only time a clue is found in the yellow picture frame.
  • This the second episode to feature a rattle as a clue, after Blue's Big Holiday.
  • Mrs. Pepper's base is thinner and less rounded after half of the episode, and she is wearing a postpartum bind until they come home from the hospital.
    • She was the most widest and rounded at the first half of the episode than the first two episodes.
  • In 100th Episode Celebration, the Baby Doctor will appear again later, this time in flashback form.
  • In this episode, the Baby Doctor refers to one of the ducklings as Fuzzy.
  • The credits feature a saw playing "Hush Little Baby!".
  • After Steve finds the first clue, it was Mailtime. This happened in Geography.
  • The second clue is the same as the answer in What Does Blue Want to Make Out of Recycled Things?.

Goofs[]

  • After returning home from the hospital after seeing baby Cinnamon, the living room picture does not have a paw print on it before Mailbox is in front of it, but when he moves away, there is a paw print on the picture. Blue was never seen putting her paw print on it, so it is unknown how it got on there.
