The Penguin is an upcoming television series set in The Batman Saga. The series will follow the title character as he attempts to take over Gotham City's criminal underworld in the aftermath of The Batman's events. The series is set to premiere in September 2024 on both HBO and Max.

Production[]

Plans for a Penguin spin-off began during post-production on The Batman. In September 2021, LeFranc was hired as showrunner. Colin Farrell, who portrayed Penguin in the film, signed on as executive producer and star during December. After The Batman' success, HBO commissioned the series in March 2022.^[7] In October, Craig Zobel joined as the director of the first two episodes.^[6]

Filming[]

Filming for The Penguin began in March 2023 in New York. On March 6, several publications caught filming of scenes with Farrell, Milioti and Felix. Filming was suspended during both the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.^[8]
