Ragdoll was a thief and triple-jointed contortionist. With the latter skill, he was capable of bending his body in all sorts of impossible ways and even able to survive methods that could kill other people, such as being caught in the gears of a clock. Ragdoll constantly came into conflict with the Batman and fellow thief Catwoman.
History[]
Able to bend himself in every imaginable position, Ragdoll is a formidable opponent for The Batman, but an even bigger adversary of Catwoman. While Catwoman's interests are merely in cat-related fare, Ragdoll's interests lay wherever the money is. To Catwoman's dismay, this is also in rare cat-items: vintage animation cels, priceless artifacts and the main jewel of their battle, two 'Cat's Eyes' emeralds, hidden in a Gotham Clock Tower by a mobster in the 1930s. Though never found, it was enough to pique the interest of Ragdoll and Catwoman, falling into a trap set by Batman. After a lengthy and spectacular battle, Ragdoll went to prison empty-handed, with Cat Woman back home and empty-handed.
When the Penguin formed a team of other Gotham supervillains, Ragdoll also joined the team. Using his contortionry, he was able to slip through vents to disable cameras in the robberies. Like the other members, he was arrested by the newly formed Batman Family, being defeated by Robin. Ragdoll was also one of the Gotham criminals captured by Rumor. He, like the others, was eventually released by Batman and Robin, though was defeated and arrested by the GCPD.

- Due to similarities with the Scarecrow (especially with his Batman: The Animated Series design), many fans tend to mistake Ragdoll for the character.
- In the comics, the Ragdoll is an enemy of the original Flash, Jay Garrick.
- It is unknown whether this Ragdoll was based on the original Ragdoll, Peter Merkel, or his son and second, Peter Merkel Jr.
- In The Batman Strikes! #24, Ragdoll is given a plush very similar to the comic version's original design by Catwoman.
