Commissioner James Gordan is an ally of Batman in the show The Batman. Ending tensions between the GCPD and vigilante, he began working with the Dark Knight to fight crime in Gotham City. Gordon was also the father of Barbara Gordon, who secretly operated as Batman's sidekick Batgirl.

Biography[]

He first appeared in "Night and the City" asking Angel Rojas why it was so important to capture the Batman. He explains having the bat on their side will be better for them stopping crime. After Batman stopped Joker, Penguin, and Riddler he accepted Batman as a hero in Gotham.

He is shown to have a daughter named Barbra Gordon and catches her with Pamela. He tells her the Pam is a bad influence and saves her alongside Batman from the criminal Temblor. When Pam becomes Poison Ivy, she kidnaps Gordon as revenge for not doing anything about plant companies having Barbara save him as Batgirl. He would reappear helping stop Penguin before realizing that Batman had amnesia, assigning Cash Tankinson to guard Bruce (unaware that he is Batman). He even learns Dr.Strange is a criminal after the doctor made Wesker go back to crime and when he built Dave.

In the forth season, he meets Robin when he tries to solve a crime by Black Mask. He gets impressed by the kids teamwork in taking down the masked man. He was also shown to be turned into a zombie by Hugo Strange.

Trivia[]

  • Gordon is one of the few characters to appear in all five seasons besides Joker, Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Batman, Alfred, and Mayor Grange.
  • Gordon is one of the characters with their own leitmotif, alongside Batman, Robin, Batgirl, the GCPD (Yin, Ethan,), Cash Tankinson, Superman, Green Arrow, Hawkman, Joker, Catwoman, Kabuki Twins, Killer Croc, Spellbinder, Gearhead, Harley Quinn, the Joining, Captain Slash, and Wrath and Scorn.
  • Jeff Matsuda confirmed the man in the flashback of Traction that comforted young Bruce was indeed Gordon. It is a coincidence, however, that Batman Begins did it too.
  • It is unknown why Gordon left Gotham after Traction's flashback, though it is possible he did so to take care of his family.
  • His design seems to be based on Gary Oldman's performance of the character from Christopher Nolan's trilogy.
