Baldur's Gate II EE[]
“ | This wand will emit a gold beam of energy at its targets up to a maximum range of 80ft, affecting a 15-ft radius. If the target creatures fail their Save vs. Wands, they will fall into a deep, comatose sleep for 2 turns. | ” |
Gameplay[]
The magical powers of this wand only affect hostile creatures in its target area if they have at most 4 Hit Dice.
The wand's effects are categorized as an Enchantment spell school and Disabling secondary type.
A Saving throw vs. Wands will negate the Sleep (Status Effect). A missed saving throw puts the creature to sleep for 2 turns (20 rounds).
Magic resistance and a Minor Globe of Invulnerability can block the wand's sleep effect.
Creatures that fall asleep will be Helpless, are interrupted if they were casting, and can no longer perform any actions. They will not wake up when damaged.
Hostile Elf, Half-elf, and Drow creatures will receive their racial sleep resistance chance versus this wand.
For the most part, in Baldur's Gate II hostile creatures with 4 HD or less are restricted to a few minor Sahuagin enemies, and otherwise the wand's use is very limited.
A wand can take up to 100 charges (though rarely seen). Its value of 7,500 puts the price per charge at 75 . This can be used to calculate the number of charges one can expect when buying one from a merchant. Take note to account for Reputation and Charisma based modifications as well as the store markup.
