Poison the Crusaders is a side quest available in Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear. It can be gained at the start of Chapter 10, and must be completed before the end of Chapter 10.

Gaining[]

After speaking to Torsin de Lancie to receive the main storyline quest for Chapter 10, planting the Barrel of Bwoosh! in the Underground River, the leader of Waterdeep's forces will ask Gorion's Ward to go a step further and infiltrate the Dragonspear Castle Basement, so they can poison the stockpiled food and water.

The player has four options once this happens:

  • Flatly refuse.
  • Agree to poison the Crusaders' supplies.
  • Agree to poison the Crusaders' supplies for a reward.
  • Question Torsin's honor - this will extend the conversation, and allow the player to ultimately choose whether to accept the quest or turn it down.

This event may be referenced in dialogue later in the game, depending on the discussion with Torsin and rationale used to accept or reject the task. In particular, the protagonist may choose to bring it up to help determine the ending of the game.

If the quest is accepted, it is entered into the journal and the player is given a Potion of Terror.

Completing[]

To complete the quest, Gorion's Ward must enter the Dragonspear Castle Basement area. A storeroom can be found in the central-east area of the map containing food, whilst a door in the western corner of the map leads to a water cask. Interacting with both the supply crates in the food chamber and the cask will grant the player the option to dose that source with the Potion of Terror.

Rewards[]

Each party member will earn 4,000 XP for each target poisoned. In addition, as long as at least one target is poisoned, the achievement "Blessed By Talona" will be unlocked and the crusaders in the outer area of the castle will be weakened when faced during the events of Chapter 11, receiving a +2 penalty to THAC0.

Note: Strunk's Water Elementals will also be affected by the THAC0 penalty.
