Non-Detection renders the recipient protected from some divination spells.

Description[]

Non-Detection
By casting this spell, the wizard makes the creature or object touched undetectable by divination spells such as Clairaudience, Clairvoyance, Locate Object, ESP, and detect spells including Invisibility Purge. It also prevents location by such magical items as crystal balls and ESP medallions. It does not affect the Know Alignment spell.

Gameplay[]

The caster may apply this spell onto single creature, including self, at a touch range.

When the spell casting is finished the spell recipient is briefly covered in a lighting effect and color fade graphic, and a text is displayed reading "Non-detected".

A player character spell recipient will show an icon (No. 31) titled "Non-detectable" on their portrait.

When the spell is cast a sound effect is audibled, and another when the spell expires.

This spell protects an invisible or hidden (via Hide in Shadows/Stealth) character from some low-level divination spells:

Be aware that the Whispers of Silence cloak provides a superior Non-Detection protection capability for certain users than the spell can provide.

The Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition Wizard spell Non-Detection provides protection against the 2nd and 3rd level Priest and Wizard spells Clairaudience, Clairvoyance, Locate Object, and ESP. This protection also covers magical items such as a Crystal Ball or ESP medallion.

By casting this spell, the wizard makes the creature touched undetectable by divination spells such as Detect Invisibility, Oracle, and True Seeing, or by a thief’s Detect Illusion ability, though an invisible person may still be audible when moving and his presence may still be sensed. Non-Detection wards the creature’s gear as well as the creature itself.

Note:The SR mod's Non-Detection spell is very protective, and wards against almost all detection and divination attacks in the game. This spell is a key dynamic in "mage chess" with this mod and is used extensively when paired with the Sword Coast Stratagems mod. This spell is widely used by mages to make them very difficult to target and allowing them extra rounds of time to apply spells before being targeted by enemies.
