Description[]
Level Gamma is the third discovered Greek level. The level is an expansive trampoline park of unknown size. Most of the level's terrain consists of areas containing a group of trampolines separated by a grid of a padded plastic-like material, as shown in the attached image. Grids of trampolines may be occasionally interrupted by raised platforms made of the same material. These grids are connected by a maze of carpeted pathways. Occasionally, one may encounter flat areas that are tiled in marble. Such areas contain no trampolines or other objects or appliances.
Level Gamma's walls are covered in flaking paint, occasionally containing murals or other art. Such art often depicts people jumping on trampolines, although in some cases humanoid entities such as Facelings are shown in the place of humans. What appear to be names given to certain grids are also found on walls. Basketball hoops also are occasionally found sticking out of walls, as shown on the attached image. Despite this finding, no basketballs have been found on Level Gamma.
Lighting in the level is inconsistent, with some areas appearing to be lit up despite having no discernable light sources, and others being dark even under direct lighting. Another notable quality of Level Gamma is its air, which seems to be permanently filled with dust particles. Due to this, much of the level is covered in dust, a quality that may cause problems to wanderers sensitive to air pollution. Illuminated by the level's strange lighting, the dust in the air gives Level Gamma an eerie, unearthly feeling.
What might be most strange about Level Gamma is its complete lack of any supplies or objects. This is strange, as even the most inhospitable levels have been known to contain at least some useful or harmful items. Even things brought to the level by wanderers will mysteriously disappear after being unobserved for more than an hour. One popular theory states that objects do generate in the level but are forcibly noclipped out by an unknown force.
Another area in the level, only rarely found, is the Arcade. The arcade resembles a black painted room illuminated by buzzing fluorescent lights with a wooden floor and filled with the smell of burnt plastic. While being referred to as an arcade, arcade rooms typically contain only one or two arcade machines, which are non-functional. The machines cannot be moved out of the arcade, with them being fixed to the floor they appear on. Inspection of the interiors of machines show that their circuits were completely fried. Noclipping through these machines allows one to exit the level.
Trampolines[]
Level Gamma's trampolines have an anomalous property that makes interaction with them highly hazardous. Apon one attempting to jump on a trampoline, gravity above the trampoline will become twelve times weaker than that on Terra's surface. This results in the height of one's jumps being greatly increased. This creates several dangers such as the risk of hitting one's head on the ceiling or being violently flung into a wall. The best course of action in this situation is for one to stay still, as one's bouncing will eventually come to a halt, then carefully move to one of the pathways adjacent to the trampoline. Upon the one who first jumped exiting the area of reduced gravity, gravity above the trampoline will return to normal.
Trampolines additionally have another strange property. If one attempts to pierce a trampoline with a sharp object or firearm, the blade or the projectile will by violently flung into the user's body, severely injuring them. Throwing heavy objects on trampolines yields similar results, although those objects are easier to dodge. Even if one somehow successfully manages to puncture the trampoline, the tear will close within a matter of minutes.
Block Pits[]
Level Gamma also contains large pits of an unknown depth filled with foam blocks. These pits are scattered intermittently around the level, occasionally replacing trampoline grids. Like the trampolines, the foam pits also have dangerous gravity-distorting properties. Any objects or individuals in the trampoline will be subjected to a gravitational force 2 times that of Terra's.
Apon being pulled farther into the block pits, the gravitational force exerted on one will begin to increase. There does not seem to be a pattern to the increase, with the force seeming to randomly jump up the deeper one goes. If one falls into the pit and is sucked beneath, their hope for survival is nonexistent. Unless forcefully pulled up by those outside the pit, no one has escaped gravitational force greater than 4gs[1], and are typically killed by the time they reach 6gs. Automated cameras have managed to get up to 20gs without being crushed, although they can go much deeper using anomalous anti-gravity technology.
Entities[]
There are no confirmed entities within Level Gamma, although the level, like other Greek levels, presumably is inhabited by a Scribe.
Colonies and Outposts[]
Due to the lack of supplies and the numerous gravitational hazards, any attempts to create an outpost in Level Gamma have been met with failure.
Recovered Logs[]
The following log is a transcript of an attempt to reach the bottom of a block pit using a probe that utilizes anomalous technology.
0:00 Depth: 0 meters After preparations and tests of the technology, the probe is thrown into the ball pit
0:03 Depth: 0.5 meters The probe begins sinking into the pit. Current gravity 2.2g
0:10 Depth: 1.2 meters The probe disappears from view
0:45 Depth 10 meters Gravitational force reaches 3g
1:52 Depth 24 meters Gravitational force reaches 4g
3:14 Depth 55 meters Cameras show that blocks appear to be more dilapidated. Current Gravity 5.4g
10:12 Depth: 135 meters Probe's outer steel casing begins to degrade. Current Gravity 11g
14:35 Depth 178 meters Outer shell discarded. Anomalous anti-gravity field activated. Current gravity 15.1g
20:49 Depth: 310 meters Probe sets new record for deepest reached in the pits. Current gravity: 22g
29:51 Depth Approx. 500 meters Sensors begin malfunctioning despite anti-gravity field still being operational.
35:35 Depth Approx. 700 meters Cameras show blocks have mostly given way to small chunks of foam
46:03 Depth Approx. 900 meters The anti-gravity field begins losing power. Oly static can be seen through the video feed.
55:55 DEPTH: 999: Broadcast cuts off.
55:56 A pulse of what seems to be gravitational force emanates from the top of the pit, sending the scientists to be slammed against a nearby wall at high speeds. While no deaths occurred, all of the science team suffered significant injuries. A M.E.G recon team was called in to evacuate the science team from the level.
Shortly before its failure, the probe transmitted the following text file.
I have been so lenient for you humans. I made it so you would have had no reasons to explore this gravitational death trap. I made it so you could leave whenever you liked. I made it so none of the things that sustained you were here. But still. You want to know everything. You want to poke your noses everywhere. You want to intrude on my last safe haven. I am not a fighter, nor do I truly hate your kind. But now, I feel like I have no other choice. Stay out of my home, or what happened to your team will only be the beginning.
-The Scribe of Gamma
An advisory has been issued to wanderers to steer clear of Level Gamma and to immediately leave upon entering.
Entrances and Exits[]
Entrances[]
- Jumping on a trampoline in any level may lead to one noclipping through it and ending up here.
Exits[]
- Doors commonly found within the level lead to level 1.
- Uncommonly found triangular doorways lead to level Delta.
- Jumping through a hole one successfully made within a trampoline leads to The Void.
- Noclipping into an arcade machine sends one to level 25
- Entering a hole in the ceiling while under the effect of low gravity may send one to level 702, although this is rare.
- Entering the flip side of a singularity sends you to Your No-Sided Ending
